Picking up after your pet is one of the easiest ways to help protect local water quality. When pet waste is left on the ground, rain can wash bacteria, nutrients, and other pollutants into storm drains, streams, rivers, and lakes.

Always carry waste bags when walking your dog, and be sure to dispose of pet waste in the trash. Small actions by responsible pet owners can make a big difference in keeping our communities and waterways clean.

Do your part—scoop it, bag it, and trash it! 🐾

Remember, you’re not just washing your car — you’re protecting local waterways, too.

When you wash your vehicle at home, soap, dirt, oil, and other pollutants can wash into storm drains and eventually reach nearby rivers, lakes, and streams. Consider using a commercial car wash where water is treated and recycled, or wash your vehicle on a grassy area where runoff can soak into the ground.

Small changes can make a big difference for water quality.

🌱 A little planning now can help protect our waterways all season long!

Whether you're mulching garden beds, applying fertilizer, or installing new sod, making environmentally conscious landscaping choices can reduce stormwater pollution and improve water quality.

✔️ Use mulch to help retain moisture and reduce erosion

✔️ Apply fertilizers sparingly and according to label directions

✔️ Choose plants suited to your local conditions

✔️ Keep soil, grass clippings, and landscaping materials out of streets and storm drains

Smart gardening practices help create healthier yards and healthier waterways. 💧🌼

🍽️💧 Proper staff training is one of the most effective ways to prevent stormwater pollution in retail and food service facilities.

Employees should understand proper cleaning procedures, waste handling practices, and how to prevent pollutants such as grease, detergents, food waste, and chemicals from entering storm drains. Regular training helps protect local waterways while supporting a cleaner, safer workplace.

Small actions by every team member can make a big difference for water quality.

🌱 Start a grassroots movement—literally!

Planting grass and other fast-growing vegetation helps prevent soil erosion by holding soil in place. Whether on slopes or flat areas, strong root systems reduce runoff, keep sediment out of storm drains, and protect our waterways.

A little green goes a long way in keeping our communities clean and resilient. 🌎💧

🌱 Keep Yard Waste Out of the Street!

Grass clippings, leaves, and other yard debris may seem harmless, but when they wash into storm drains, they can clog drainage systems, contribute to flooding, and carry excess nutrients into local waterways.

After mowing, leave grass clippings on your lawn as a natural fertilizer or collect them for composting. Taking a few extra minutes to clean up can help protect streams, ponds, rivers, and wetlands in your community. 💧

Small actions make a big difference for water quality.

Storm drains don’t lead to treatment plants — they flow directly to local waterways. Pet waste, litter, motor oil, and sediment can all pollute the water we depend on.

Help keep our rivers, lakes, and streams cleaner by properly disposing of waste and preventing runoff pollution.

🍂🏠 Get Your Mind in the Gutter!

Your home's gutters play an important role in managing rainwater and helping prevent erosion, flooding, and stormwater runoff issues. When gutters become clogged with leaves, twigs, and other debris, water can overflow and carry pollutants into nearby storm drains and waterways.

Make gutter maintenance part of your regular home care routine:

✔️ Remove leaves and debris regularly

✔️ Check downspouts for blockages

✔️ Direct runoff away from foundations and paved surfaces

✔️ Inspect gutters after major storms

A little maintenance can go a long way toward protecting your property and local water quality. 💧
