We’ve got some bad news and some worse news, followed by some good news:

😔 Bad news = our walk-in cooler died
😩 Worse news = the parts are hard to find
🤗 Good news = we do NOT have to cancel our meals this week

Thankfully the His Hands Extended food pantry had some extra space to salvage most of the contents of our cooler and C&D Refrigeration was able to quickly diagnose the problem! However, the parts won’t be in for a week and when they do arrive, we will need to spend over $1000 to get things up and running again.

With that being said, we’re hoping to find 10-15 people, churches, or businesses in our community with a heart for the Community Meals we serve each week that would each be willing to contribute $100 towards the repair of this vital resource. You can stop in to drop off cash or a check and if you live outside of the area you can visit www.GACOutreach.com/give to donate electronically. 2020 was a very tough year for everyone across the globe, but God provided some supernatural strength to our volunteers and it is being recognized at the state level. We do this important work because Christ tells us to, but it’s truly an honor to receive this award from our state Governor!

In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no Community Meal tonight and we will see everyone on Thursday at 5pm

Many years ago on the first day of the year, several local families would flock to The Hotel on Spencer Main Street and enjoy ‘chicken a la king’ with eachother...that did not happen anywhere in town this year due to the current situation with COVID19 so we’ve decided to honor this tradition tonight at our Community Meal from 5-6:30 so mask up and come down!

Thank you to everyone that came to celebrate Christmas with us last night! We look forward to seeing you again next Monday, as we will not be here serving the Thursday night meal on Christmas Eve. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas this week!

Tonight we are serving our Christmas Meal in the 1st floor dining room of Grand Avenue Community Outreach and would love to see you here...we are also just a little short on help, so if you or your family would like to volunteer a couple hours of your time - please send a message to our page and we will share details on how you can get involved between 5-6:30pm!

It’s been quite a week around here. We were fortunate enough to receive a grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation to support our goal of feeding people in Clay County. We immediately reached out to one of the local cattlemen, who was able to secure nearly a ton of ground beef to be used in our Community Meals through a partnership with the local Fareway Stores and we even had enough of this fresh beef to share with our friends upstairs at His Hands Extended food pantry on the 2nd floor of Grand Avenue Community Outreach. We are so blessed and thankful to everyone that was involved in this project!

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for Thanksgiving dinner on Monday. Remember that we will not be serving a meal on Thursday evening so that our volunteers can spend time with their families. We look forward to seeing everyone next Monday, November 30th. Happy Thanksgiving to all and may God continue to bless each of you!

In celebration of the upcoming holiday next week, we are planning to host a Thanksgiving meal on Monday November 23rd from 5-6:30pm and would love to see you there!

We have so much to be thankful for around here and we appreciate ALL of the volunteers that make these meals happen each Monday & Thursday evening throughout the year! Join us and help celebrate those efforts in the name of God.

* Social distancing is expected and masks are required unless you are sitting at your table to eat
* We will be CLOSED on Thursday in observance of the holiday
