🚑❤️ National CPR & AED Awareness Week ❤️🚑

This week, we recognize the importance of learning CPR and how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). In an emergency, immediate action can mean the difference between life and death.

Did you know? ✅ Nearly 70% of cardiac arrests happen at home. ✅ Immediate CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival. ✅ AEDs are designed for anyone to use and provide step-by-step instructions.

At Spencer-Roane County Volunteer Fire Department, we encourage everyone to take the time to learn these lifesaving skills. You never know when a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor may need your help.

Take a CPR class. Learn where AEDs are located in your community. Be prepared to make a difference when every second counts.

Together, we can build a safer and more prepared community.

Today is the last day of springtime outside burning restrictions. We still ask for everyone to use caution when burning on windy days or when we have gone several days without rain.

The spring fire season ends today. Daylight burning is permitted, but the risk remains. Keep a 10-foot safety strip perimeter clear. Keep water nearby. Stay safe. 🌅✔️

The Five House displayed the American Flag today as the 2026 WV Charity Ride group traveled through Spencer today. This was a benefit for the North Central WV Honor Flight program.

🌧️⚠️ HIGH WATER WARNING ⚠️

We're here if you need us, but let's avoid having to make that call!

With continued rain and the potential for flash flooding, please use extreme caution while traveling on our roadways.

🚧 Pooling water can quickly create dangerous driving conditions, especially at night when it is difficult to judge the depth of water covering the roadway.

❗If you approach high water:

➡️ Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

➡️ Never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

➡️ Just a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the road.

➡️ Avoid barricaded roads and obey all road closure signs.

➡️ Slow down during heavy rain and increase following distance.

➡️ Keep your headlights on and avoid distracted driving.

Please continue to monitor weather conditions and use caution throughout the area. Your safety is our top priority.
