Ambassadors visited the Clay County Fair & Events Center yesterday for a ribbon cutting on phase 1 of their Grandstand improvement project! CEO Jason Brockshus mentioned that they began the project in October after a successful Fair in 2025. The recent updates included removing the old race wall, leveling and cleaning up the standing area, adding new steel stairs, and new speedway walls that can be moved by forklift — all changes that will make the fair-goer experience better. Congrats to the CCF team!

This morning, we delivered condiments to Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. as part of the Battle of the Businesses competition. With the help of Spencer Main Street, we collected 100 items to help stock the UDMO food pantry. Thank you to UDMO and all the businesses that make this annual drive possible!

Ambassadors visited Hope Haven in Spencer yesterday to meet the athletes that recently competed at the State Special Olympics in Ames in May. There were around 20 participants who stood up, introduced themselves, and were very happy to share how they placed in the competition. The Chamber has been going to Hope Haven at the end of each month for a community coffee to tell the members about events going on and to hear what they're up to. We have loved getting to know everyone at Hope Haven and congratulate them all on their hard work and accomplishments at State Special Olympics!
