Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and everyday people who stepped forward to help others.

We’re also grateful for our local first responders who continue to serve and protect our community each day. We will never forget.

Ambassadors welcomed the Clay County Pork Producers - Iowa Chop Shop as new Chamber Investors! Harvey Williams and 3 of the other 8 board members talked about the upcoming Clay County Fair and Chop Shop. The Chop Shop is located just south of the outdoor arena on the Fairgrounds and will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The all-volunteer staff will be serving pork tenderloin, Iowa chop dinner, pork burgers, pork tail sundaes, and Mr. Rib. Todd, Chop Shop manager, said last year they served 5,049 pork tenderloins and this year he anticipates it to exceed 6,500 sales. The Pork Producers are also sponsoring the Bacon Buddy show, where individuals with disabilities are connected with 4-H and FFA showmen to share pig projects. We’d like to thank the Pork Producers for their Investment and welcome them to the Spencer Chamber!

Ambassadors visited Trinity Preschool/Daycare and Trinity Lutheran Church - Spencer IA on Tuesday for the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting of their Infant & Toddler Care! Director Jody Kleve and Pastor Renae Behrends said their preschool and daycare center has been in operation for over 40 years and, after identifying a need in the community, added infant care—which opened just this week. The center currently has 80 children enrolled, with a capacity for 88 and is open 6:00 AM – 5:30 PM.

Through resources from the Chamber and other organizations, Trinity was able to rebuild after the flood, renovating the basement and filling the classrooms for the infants and toddlers. Pastor Renae thanked the entire community, members of the church council, and wanted to extend a special thank you to First Congregational Church of Spencer, IA who took on all their daycare kids from June 2024-February 2025 after the flood. Congrats!
