This Labor Day, we honor the incredible volunteers whose hard work makes every Indy Honor Flight possible.

Four times each year, we have the privilege of flying Veterans of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials built in their honor. But each flight represents much more than a single day.

Behind every journey are countless hours of planning, fundraising, coordinating, preparing, calling, packing, organizing, welcoming and caring. Our volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year, often quietly and behind the scenes, to ensure every Veteran receives the meaningful experience and recognition they deserve.

To every volunteer who gives their time, talent, energy and heart: thank you! Your hard work builds every mission, supports every flight and makes these unforgettable journeys possible.

On September 2, 1945, Japanese officials formally surrendered to the Allies in a ceremony aboard the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay, ending hostilities in the Pacific theater.

World War II was officially over.
