Children from Speedway got a hands-on lesson in fire safety this week as firefighters showcased the department’s safety trailer during a field trip along Main Street in Speedway.
The interactive trailer gave kids the opportunity to learn important life-saving skills, including fire prevention, emergency escape planning, and severe weather safety. The event is part of the department’s ongoing public education and outreach efforts aimed at keeping the Speedway community safe through hands-on learning experiences.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS:

Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted on Main Street for both the east and west sides of the street on Friday May 1, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. Although the signs will be posted by 4:00 P.M. on Friday, May 1, 2026, parking enforcement will not begin until 3:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

After 3:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, any vehicle parked on Main Street between 10th and 16th Streets will be towed at the owner’s expense by the Speedway Police Department.

Parking restrictions will be lifted at the conclusion of the event.

L88 and E89 along with BC20 were first on scene at a trailer fire off of Vermont. L88 made an aggressive search as well as holding the fire back with a water can until E89 was able to set up a water supply and an attack line. Fire was located in the back bedroom, under control in under 10 minutes. Great work from the guys of Speedway Fire. No injuries and no residents were home at the time
