Ms. Rath's 7th grade students in Energy and the Environment have been exploring solar energy and the basics of electrical circuits. They built solar-powered critters that wiggled when exposed to enough light and experimented with solar houses to determine which direction produced the most power for LEDs and a small motor.

West Elementary second graders took a trip to visit the Centennial School House. They got to take a step back in time and experience a school day like pioneer children did over 100 years ago in a one-room schoolhouse.

Our 7th grade staff joined in on the Homecoming spirit with Adam Sandler Day and Student vs. Teacher SWAP Day! Our teachers had a blast dressing like students and showing off their best “student tudes”! 😉
We love seeing our staff have fun and get into the Homecoming spirit with our students!

NEW SPARTAN PARADE ROUTE! 📣 The parade will start at Burger King on N Ave and head south to Jackson Blvd. Then right (West) onto Jackson to disperse. Floats will be pulling out of the High School on Spirit Lane.

Sandford Underground Lab Facility (SURF) helped 5th grade Creekside students explore elements of the hydrosphere. Students learned words like watershed, geographical topical map, waste water treatment, precipitation, run off, tributaries, organisms, chemicals, groundwater and more! They connected it back to our area and Spearfish Creek- a specific water shed that eventually connects to the ocean.

Teachers at Mountain View celebrated Dot Day with a fun reminder to try difficult things, embrace challenges, and overcome self-doubt. A great day to remember that sometimes, all it takes is a little courage to make your mark!

Mr. Holben’s science classes are studying ecosystems and learning how to classify living things. Students created dichotomous keys to help identify organisms that may live in Spearfish Creek. On Friday, September 11th, they put their skills to work in the field, exploring Spearfish Creek and identifying the living organisms they discovered!

**TINY HOME ONLINE AUCTION POSTPONED**

The online only auction of the tiny home built by the SHS CTE program has been postponed to October 8, 2026.
