Upstate Workforce Board Advancing the Future of Business and Community in Spartanburg, Union and Cherokee County.

We create and oversee a continuously improving workforce development system for Cherokee, Spartanburg and Union Counties that: encompasses all necessary resources for the citizens of our three-county Workforce areas to obtain employment at a liveable wage, ensures employers have a work ready pool of applicants and a point of contact to obtain other employer related services, and promotes youth development in education, training, and employment .

Our staff recently attended the NAWDP - National Association of Workforce Development Professionals Annual Conference in Phoenix Arizona.

We had the opportunity to network, collaborate, and learn about current trends in workforce and economic development.

Topics included workforce innovation, employer engagement, career readiness, leadership development, and technology in workforce services.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that allow us to continue growing and improving the services we provide to our community.

The Upstate Workforce Board introduced the Project SEARCH program to Spartanburg County school districts many years ago, and Spartanburg School District 6 immediately embraced the opportunity. Spartanburg School District 6 partnered with Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System to help pave the way for Project SEARCH programs across South Carolina. Today, these programs are making a difference in communities throughout the state.

The Upstate Workforce Board has been honored to have a front row seat in watching this program grow and change lives. Executive Director, Dana Hudgins proudly attended graduation to celebrate the graduates and their outstanding achievements.

We are also excited to see the program expand to Spartanburg School District 7 during the upcoming school year.
