🎶Join us for 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗼, presented by the SHS Choir🎶

Come out for an evening of music and see all your favorites take the stage! Be sure to check the slides to see who will be performing in each set.

And there’s more than just music! We’ll have a silent auction featuring gift cards, prizes, and baskets, plus a bake sale with plenty of sweet treats.

🎟️Tickets are just $5, with all proceeds benefiting the SHS Choir and helping provide senior scholarships and field trips.

📚 Our Teacher Cadets, led by Mrs. Eaton, visited their first of many schools this year!

On Wednesday, they traveled to Drayton Mills Elementary, where they stepped into the role of guest readers. Although they were a little nervous at first, they did an amazing job and we couldn’t be prouder of them!

We can’t wait to see all they accomplish throughout the year. Next stop: Jesse Boyd Elementary on Friday for “Talk Like a Pirate Day”! 🏴‍☠️📖

📸 Don’t forget! Underclass Picture Day is Monday!

Students will be notified of their assigned time by their teacher and will report to the main intersection in front of Valhalla. Students will pick up their photo card and then wait in line to have their picture taken.

Just a reminder: About one week after Picture Day, you’ll be able to customize and order your photos online at jostenspix.com/shop.

📐 Geometry in action!

Students in Mrs. Bishop and Mrs. Nelson’s Geometry class put their vocabulary to the test with a Friday maze challenge! Students worked together to create a maze and key using the geometry vocabulary they’ve learned in class to guide them through it. They then swapped mazes and put those guides to the test by trying out another groups maze. The group with the lowest time won a special prize!

It was a fun way to get students up, moving, communicating, and most importantly - putting their geometry vocabulary to use in a completely different way!

The SHS Corporation was invited to sing the National Anthem at the City of Spartanburg’s 25th Anniversary Remembrance of September 11th at Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College.

Guest speakers at the event included our very own Mayor Rice, Pastor L. Crudup, Col. S.V. Patel, SCSG, Ret. Lt. D. Norton, and Lt. Colonel M. Cooper.

The service concluded with the 9/11 timeline a Memorial Bell sequence, followed by Taps, played by our own Mr. Cotter and ended with the Corporation’s performance of “Amazing Grace.”

Our Colors of Chemistry students took their first field trip to BASF Corp. yesterday, getting an inside look at chemical manufacturing and recycling!🧪♻️

Students began with a safety and company presentation before learning about surfactants, the chemistry behind BASF’s products, the difference between chemists and chemical engineers, and the educational paths available in the field of chemistry. They then toured the plant, visiting the control room, handling some of the tools used on-site, and meeting BASF staff who shared about their roles and the work they do.

A great day of connecting what they’re learning in the classroom to real-world careers in chemistry!
