50+ Spartanburg County Parks Department

50+ Spartanburg County Parks Department Spartanburg Parks offers many great wellness opportunities for people aged 50+ Yesterday, 10,000 baby boomers turned 65.

That will happen tomorrow and the day after that and every single day until the year 2030. In Spartanburg County, within 10 years more than 25% of the population will be at least 65 years old. Regardless of age, recreation and leisure are vital to one’s wellbeing. Older adulthood opens up many opportunities to try new things. This is the time that 50+ citizens can devote more time, energy, and mon

ey to their own interests and can devote their time to worthwhile community services. 50+ wellness programs also enhance independence. Participation in wellness activities keeps the mind sharp and challenged, keeps older adults social and attached to society, and keeps their bodies active and engaged. Recreation participation in older adulthood can be the difference between watching life tick away or grabbing life and making the most of every day.

FRESH AIR FRIDAYS UPDATE

Right now, the rain looks like it will be moving out of our area in time for our group walk on the Mary Black Rail Trail at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow (Friday, June 19th).

Under normal circumstances, if it's raining at 10:00 a.m. we move inside to the track at the Dr. TK Gregg Community Center. However, the center is closed tomorrow in observance of Juneteenth, so that's not possible.

If it's raining at 10:00 tomorrow morning and we can't walk outside, we'll have to cancel the activity. We hope the weather cooperates and we can get some exercise together!

Questions? Please call or email Bates McKinney at [email protected] or 864-384-2215.
