Spartanburg Fire Department personnel, along with support from county units, have responded to a gas leak along W. O. Ezell Blvd. near the Market Square shopping center at 1450 W. O. Ezell Blvd. The shopping center has been evacuated as a precaution and technicians from Piedmont Natural Gas are also on the scene to repair the leak.

While there is no danger to residential areas, some residents may notice an odor of gas in the area. We urge everyone to stay clear of the immediate area to allow first responders to complete their work.

Training Notice for the Community from Spartanburg Fire Department

Beginning today, June 22, 2026, our crews will be conducting training exercises at this location before demolition begins.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Clayton Construction Company, Demtek, and the property owners at Kanpai for allowing our crews the opportunity to conduct valuable hands-on training. Real-world training helps prepare our first responders for real emergencies.

Have a vacant building scheduled for renovation or demolition? We’d love to hear from you. These training opportunities make a lasting difference and help keep our community safer.

We’ve done City budget podcasts before, but this year City Manager Chris Story joins us for a conversation less about what's in the budget and more about why it looks the way it does.
