Capture the beauty of Hatcher Garden from a wide perspective! 🌿

For this contest, we are looking for long shots that showcase the landscape, pathways, water features, bridges, woodland areas, or sweeping garden scenes. Think big picture — images that highlight the natural beauty and sense of place that make Hatcher Garden so special.

📸 Please note:
Photos must be wide or landscape-style shots.
No close-up photos of flowers, insects, or small details.
Images should clearly represent the broader setting and atmosphere of Hatcher Garden.*

We want to see the Garden the way visitors experience it — peaceful, expansive, and inspiring. Show us the woods in the city through your lens! 🌳✨

🌿 Please join us in celebrating our 2026 Volunteers of the Year — Jamie Hendrick and Shearon Lenderman! 🌿

Jamie and Shearon have dedicated countless hours of hard work, care, and love to Hatcher Garden, helping keep the Garden beautiful, welcoming, and thriving for all who visit. From maintaining trails and gardens to feeding the birds, to tackling projects big and small, their commitment and generosity make an incredible difference every single day.

Because of volunteers like Jamie and Shearon, Hatcher Garden continues to be “the woods in the city” — a peaceful place for inspiration, enjoyment, and connection with nature.

We are deeply grateful for their dedication, passion, and servant hearts. 💚 Please help us thank and congratulate these two amazing volunteers for all they do for our Garden community!

Blooming Now!
🌿 The Bigleaf Magnolia is a true giant of the forest! 🌿
Meet the Bigleaf Magnolia (Magnolia macrophylla)—a tree that turns heads (and stops people in their tracks!) with leaves that can grow up to 3 feet long… yes, really! 😲

✨ Native to the southeastern United States, this beauty thrives in rich woodland settings—just like the peaceful paths we love.

🤍 Its creamy white flowers can reach 10–12 inches across, filling the air with a light, lemony fragrance.

🍃 Those enormous leaves aren’t just for show—they help the tree soak up sunlight in shady forest understories.
Next time you’re wandering the Garden, keep an eye out… you might just find yourself standing beneath one of nature’s largest leaves.

📍 The woods in the city is full of wonders—come explore them.
