U.S. Army National Guard Soldiers with the South Carolina National Guard continue to provide security support in Washington, D.C., up to and through the 59th Presidential Inauguration. At least 25,000 National Guard men and women have been authorized to conduct security, communication, and logistical missions in support of federal and District authorities in support of the inauguration. Please welcome PV2 Andreas Amann to the South Carolina Army National Guard.

PV2 Amann enlisted as a 19D Cavalry Scout.

He is a senior at

The cavalry scout is responsible for being the eyes and ears of the commander during battle. They engage the enemy in the field, track and report their activity, and direct the employment of weapon systems to their locations.

He will attend sixteen weeks of One Station Unit Training. Some of it takes place in the classroom, but most of it will be spent primarily in the field. Whether it’s taking part in squad maneuvers, target practice or war games, cavalry scouts are constantly refining their skills to keep themselves sharp.
