Let’s get to know Ms. Haynes….

This will be my 25th year in the classroom & I'm excited to be coming to McCracken. I am originally from a small town in SW Virginia but have been in SC since going to college at Winthrop University. Outside of school, I love spending time with my daughter and grandson, reading, and shopping.

What inspired her to become a teacher?
My inspiration to become a teacher came from my time in Public Relations and as a Human Resources trainer at Carowinds, where I taught new hires how to do their jobs. People were always telling me that I should become a teacher, so I decided to make the change. All these years later, I'm so glad I did and that I get to teach middle school.

What is she most looking forward to next year?
After a year teaching at an elementary school, I am excited to teach 8th grade and get to know my students while we explore some really amazing literature (I'm reading all our novels this summer!). I can't wait to get started!

Let’s get to know Mr. Hill...
I am a Christian teacher/mentor with 19 yrs. of experience and a former Teacher of the Year in Cherokee 1 and Spartanburg 3 school districts. I am also a veteran of the US Navy, as well as 36 yrs. of marriage to my High School sweetheart! 😄I have two adult children, and 2 grandchildren, both of which attend D7 schools. I have coached football, baseball, and softball at various levels from little league, to high school, to adult leagues, and I hold a Masters in Educational Technology from Winthrop University.

What inspired him to be a teacher?
I was inspired to teach from a love of writing, but quickly transitioned into math, because I remember the pain of math as a struggling middle school student. I am blessed to have the opportunity to help students like myself.

What is he most excited for next year?
I am most excited about the opportunity to work with new colleagues, and all the learning challenges we will overcome together. Go Eagles!

Let’s get to know Mr. Holmes…
Hi everyone! My name is Allen Holmes, and I am excited to be joining the 8th grade science team at McCracken Middle School this year! Originally from Ohio, my family and I moved to Spartanburg about 20 years ago, and this community has been home ever since. All of my children graduated from Spartanburg School District 7, so joining District 7 feels especially meaningful to me. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in engineering, making education my second career, and one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

What inspired him to become a teacher?
I love helping students see that science is not just something that they have to learn, but is something that explains the world around them every single day and ties into all other subjects. I also enjoy hands-on learning, bad dad jokes, and finding ways to make middle school science both engaging and memorable.

What is he most excited for next year?
What excites me most about next school year is building relationships with students, helping them grow in confidence, and creating a classroom where curiosity is encouraged. I’m looking forward to a year filled with learning, laughter, and probably a few science experiments that make everyone just a little nervous!🦅

I have proudly served in District 7 for the past eight years, including the last two years at McCracken Middle School, where I have grown both professionally and personally as an instructional coach and leader. During my time at MMS, I have developed a deep appreciation for the students, staff, families, and community that make this school such a special place.

I am truly honored and excited for the opportunity to serve as assistant principal at McCracken Middle School and to continue supporting the meaningful work that makes MMS a strong, student-centered school community. I look forward to partnering with our faculty, students, and families as we continue building on the school’s tradition of excellence.🦅

What better news to share on the last day of school....

Huge congratulations to the McCracken Middle School Beta Club! 🎉 During the 2025–2026 school year, our students earned the Silver Service Award for completing more than 19,000 service hours, the Service Leaderboard Award as one of the Top 5 Junior Beta Clubs in South Carolina, and the nationally recognized Hall of Fame Award (trophy forthcoming) for collecting more than 4,000 canned goods.

This marks the first time in McCracken history that our Beta Club has earned all three awards in a single year. We are incredibly proud of our Beta members, sponsor Mrs. Lauren Francis, and co-sponsor Mrs. Taylor Thomas for their outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to service.

What a night to remember at our 8th Grade Gala! ✨💚💛

A huge thank you to our incredible 8th grade team of teachers for the countless hours spent organizing, planning, and decorating to make the evening so special for our students. Your creativity and dedication helped create a night full of memories our Eagles will never forget!

We are also so grateful to our PTO for the amazing raffle prizes that added even more fun and excitement to the celebration. Thank you to everyone who helped make this night such a success!🦅
