♻️ Summer clean-outs, moving season, and home projects often mean more trips to the recycling center, so here’s a quick reminder of what Spartanburg County accepts and what should stay out of the bin:

✅ ACCEPTED:
• Aluminum & steel cans
• Plastic bottles, tubs, jugs, jars & cups
• Cardboard & mixed paper
• Paper cups (clean & empty)
• Cartons (milk, juice, broth cartons)
• Used motor oil & cooking oil
• Lead-acid batteries
• Paint

❌ NOT ACCEPTED:
• Glass
• Plastic bags
• Styrofoam
• Aerosol cans
• Household hazardous waste (except for our annual event)
• Loose batteries (other than lead-acid)

When in doubt, throw it out. Keeping contamination low helps ensure recyclable materials actually get recycled.

Losing a pet can be a scary experience. After you’ve searched the neighborhood, knocked on doors, and still haven’t found your pet, follow this step‑by‑step guide for what to do when a pet goes missing in Spartanburg County.

1. Check the Recent Pick-Ups Dashboard. This Dashboard shows recent pet pick-ups by ACOs within our jurisdiction. If you see your pet there, contact our Pet Support team at [email protected] for guidance on reclaiming your pet. Also, search through adoptable pets on our website to see if you recognize a face. Pets believed to be lost are placed on a temporary hold from adoption, but they may still appear on our website.

2. Submit a Lost Pet Report with Spartanburg County Animal Control. Include photos, last known location, and any other information that helps Animal Control Officers and PRC staff accurately identify a pet they may encounter.

3. Check social media. Many people find and hold lost pets until the owner is found. Search on Nextdoor and local lost pet Facebook groups to see if your pet has been picked up by a neighbor.

4. Check other lost-pet tools like PawBoost and Petco Love Lost. You can report your lost pet and also search through lost pets that resemble yours.

To give your pet the best chance of being found, be proactive. Make sure your pet is microchipped and take a moment to learn about our free DocuPet registration and reunification platform. It’s one of the easiest ways to help get your pet back home quickly.
