🚧 Planned Water Outage & Traffic Advisory – June 23, 2026 🚧

The City of Sparta will be performing critical repairs to a main water line located on the Jones Street Bridge, just past the Sheriff's Office and Fire Station.

Work is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM (night-time) on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Due to the nature of this repair, most of the City of Sparta will be without water service during the repair process. Residents and businesses are encouraged to plan accordingly by storing water in advance for drinking, cooking, sanitation, and other essential needs.

🚦 Traffic control measures will also be in place in the work area throughout the repair. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling near the Jones Street Bridge.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience as we complete these necessary repairs to improve the reliability of the City's water system.

Additional updates will be provided as they become available.

Parents & Guardians: please take advantage of this opportunity! Meal bag distribution begins June 2nd and runs through July 28th every Tuesday. See flyer for details and location.

🚨 Level 1 Drought Advisory Issued for Georgia 🚨

On April 27, 2026, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) placed the state under a Level 1 Drought Advisory.

🌧️ Yes, it’s raining today… and that’s a good thing!
But drought conditions are based on long-term dry weather, not just a day or two of rain. It takes time for rainfall to replenish the ground, streams, and water supplies.

💧 What this means for you:
There are no restrictions right now. This is just a reminder to be mindful of water use.

✔️ Outdoor watering is still allowed
⏰ Best times: 4:00 PM – 10:00 AM

🌱 Easy ways to help:
• Let the rain handle your watering when possible
• Fix any leaks around your home
• Turn off water when not in use
• Only run full loads of laundry or dishes

We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.
