Ever heard of a septic distribution box? πŸ€”

It's a small box that sits between your septic tank and your drain field, and its whole job is to split wastewater evenly across every drain line. When it fails, from cracking, settling, or roots working their way in, the flow gets uneven and one part of your drain field takes on way more than it should. Left alone, that can shorten the life of the entire field.

The good news: repairing or replacing a D-box is one of the more straightforward septic fixes when it's caught early. Here's how we handle it, step by step πŸ‘‡

βœ… Locate and carefully expose the box
βœ… Inspect for damage, collapse, and root intrusion
βœ… Remove the broken or failing parts
βœ… Install a new, level D-box and reconnect the lines
βœ… Level it and test the flow to make sure it's evenly distributed
βœ… Backfill, grade, and restore the yard

Not sure if your D-box is the problem? We're happy to take a look. Give us a call at πŸ“ž 800-440-8265.

Planning to build a home in New Jersey without access to public sewer? Your septic system is one of the biggest questions you will need to answer, and the price tag can swing anywhere from about $20,000 to $50,000 or more.

That range is not random. Soil type, groundwater, bedrock, bedroom count, and what each contractor includes in their quote all move the number. Our latest guide walks you through the real costs, the different system types (conventional, pressure-distribution, mound, advanced treatment), when installation happens during construction, and the NJ permits you will need before excavation.

We also cover the soil conditions common across Sussex, Morris, and Warren counties, plus the costly mistakes to avoid when planning a new system.

At ATS, engineering, permitting, and installation come as one all-inclusive scope, backed by 30+ years across New Jersey.

Did your septic inspection report call for distribution box repair or replacement? Take a breath, it's usually not as bad as it sounds. 🏑

A damaged "D-box" often doesn't mean your entire septic system needs to be replaced. This one component divides wastewater between your drain field lines, and when it cracks or shifts out of level, it can often be repaired, releveled, or swapped out on its own.

Many straightforward D-box jobs wrap up in one to two working days. If it's tied to a home sale, just tell us your inspection response and closing dates and we'll let you know what we can get done in time.

Well water testing day in Medford! πŸ’§

This property had two private wells feeding multiple buildings, so our team was on-site pulling samples to meet New Jersey Private Well Testing Act (NJPWTA) requirements.

Here's something a lot of homeowners don't realize: we test the water twice. Once BEFORE it hits the treatment system (that pressure tank), and once AFTER (at the tap). Why? Because that's how you actually know your softener and neutralizer are pulling their weight. Clean results at the faucet mean your equipment is doing exactly what it should.

Whether you're buying, selling, or just want peace of mind about what's coming out of your well, we've got you covered. 30+ years of experience and an NJDEP state contract behind every sample we take.

This one made our day! πŸ’§

Aley came to us in a tight spot, needing private well water results for a home sale within a week when testing usually takes about two. We got it done on time, answered every question along the way, and even saved a few hundred dollars compared to other companies.

Huge thanks to Mason for taking such great care of you, Aley!

Wondering how much life your septic drain field has left? You are not alone. It is one of the most common questions we hear from NJ homeowners.

The short version: most last 20 to 30 years, and some reach 40 with good care. But standing water, slow drains, sewage odors after rain, or a patch of unusually green grass can all signal trouble before the calendar does.

Our newest blog covers what wears a drain field out, the signs it may be failing, whether it can be repaired, and what replacement typically costs in New Jersey. If your system is getting up there in years, this is a good one to read before an emergency forces the decision for you.

βœ… Clean results in Woodbridge Township!

We recently wrapped an oil tank sweep and soil test at an oil-heated home in Woodbridge. Our team met the homeowner onsite and scanned the property, locating an active 1,000-gallon underground heating oil tank and a decommissioned tank sitting right next to it.

The best part? The soil sample came back clean: "ND," meaning no contamination was detected. πŸŽ‰

Whether you're buying, selling, or just want to know what's underground, a tank sweep tells you what you're actually dealing with. And we back every sweep with a same-day report and results you can rely on.

Well water win in Lafayette! πŸ’§

We ran a PWTA test on this home's private well, and the first sample came back with a failing pH. In plain terms, the water was a little too acidic. It's one of the most common things we find here in Sussex County, and it's usually nothing to panic about. Acidic water just comes with NJ geology.

We got the right treatment installed, retested, and the pH is now passing. βœ…

Whether you're testing for a home sale or just keeping an eye on your water, we're here for well testing and treatment across Sussex, Morris, and Warren Counties.

This might look like an ordinary parking lot to you. To an environmental company, it's a tank sweep completed on five properties in Newark.

And yes, we scanned all five lots in one appointment, back to back.

Our crew worked through some tricky spots along Sherman Ave and Gillette Place, where city utility lines and rebar-reinforced sidewalks can throw off a scan. The good news for our client: no underground or aboveground tanks found on any of the five lots.

Buying, selling, or developing property with multiple parcels? We can sweep them all in a single visit, guarantee the results, and get you a same-day report.
