💜🩵 National Gun Violence Awareness Month 🩵💜

During National Gun Violence Awareness Month, the Sparta Police Department encourages everyone to help keep our families and children safe.

Gun violence remains one of the leading causes of death among American youth. By promoting responsible firearm ownership and teaching children about firearm safety, we can help prevent tragedies.

🔒 Safe storage saves lives.

The Sparta Police Department provides FREE gun locks, courtesy of Project ChildSafe®. Residents are welcome to stop by the department and pick one up while supplies last.

Together, through education, responsible gun ownership, and community involvement, we can build a safer future for our children.

At approximately 0045 hours on Saturday, May 16, law enforcement officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of West Bockman Way and North Spring Street.

An 84-year-old veteran sustained injuries when a possible white Toyota RAV4 traveling westbound on West Bockman Way was involved in the collision. After the crash, the suspect vehicle turned right onto Moore Street and fled the scene.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the area with the assistance of White County Deputies. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the vehicle, and the suspect vehicle is believed to have sustained front-end damage. The victim was transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation.

Witnesses on scene believe the vehicle was racing another truck during the time of the accident.

If anyone witnessed the accident or has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Sparta Police Department. Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

KLN Design hosted an outstanding evening of live music, lunch, and co****le, bringing together family, friends, and motorcycle enthusiasts from across the community. It was a great opportunity for everyone to connect, talk about motorcycles, and enjoy a fun night together while getting ready for tomorrow’s Blue Light Ride.

Officers were honored to be invited to judge the best looking motorcycles at the event. It was an awesome experience to spend time with members of the community, meet new people, and get to know everyone in the motorcycle world.

Thank you to KLN Design for hosting such a welcoming and community focused event. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Blue Light Ride tomorrow. Be safe and have fun 🏍️!

Today, personnel participated in training alongside Instructor Mike Kerr of White County EMS, focusing on Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC).

TECC training is a nationally recognized medical standard designed to provide life saving care during high-threat or austere environments, particularly in situations involving active violence or limited resources. The training emphasizes rapid assessment and treatment of life threatening injuries, including hemorrhage control, airway management, and casualty extraction, while maintaining situational awareness and personal safety.

This training strengthens the ability of first responders to work effectively in coordinated efforts, ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients in critical and dynamic incidents.
