🐾𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨. 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠🐾

At each monthly school board meeting, we get to highlight a particular school, and tonight, it was Woodland Park Elementary’s time to shine!

Principal Mrs. Juli Johnson recognized several exceptional staff members and students for their dedication to the Woodland Park community.

First up were teachers Jacee Vaughn, Jaycie Woolbright, and Sarah Price, who were honored for taking the initiative to elevate school culture. Their "Positive Vibes" campaign highlights the achievements, daily successes, and overall strengths of Woodland Park!

Next, teachers Aleta Apple and Adrien Key were recognized for their leadership with the Woodland Park RTI2AB team. Their proactive approach and refusal to settle for average ensure that Woodland Park consistently meets the highest district standards.

Last but not least, student Wyatt B. was recognized for bringing energy and curiosity to campus every morning. From welcoming everyone at the door to sharing his vast knowledge on everything from car engines to local botany—𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵😁—Wyatt exemplifies what it means to be a true Panther!

We are beyond proud to announce that TWO of our schools have just been nationally recognized as "Bright Spot" schools by The 74, a leading nonprofit education news organization! 📚✨

In a recent national data project analyzing nearly 42,000 public schools across the country, The 74 set out to find the campuses that are truly "beating the odds" when it comes to teaching kids to read. They identified the top 5% of schools where third-grade literacy scores are significantly outperforming statistical expectations based on socioeconomic factors.

We always knew our educators, students, and families were extraordinary, but seeing their hard work and dedication recognized on a national level is truly special! This achievement is proof that with exceptional teachers, research-based instruction, and a culture of high expectations, our students can achieve incredible things and beat the odds.

Starting the week of August 17, schools will be conducting safety drills in collaboration with local emergency agencies. These drills include practicing procedures for fire, lockdown, and inclement weather emergencies. Please do not be alarmed if you notice an increased presence of emergency personnel on our campuses as these exercises are a routine part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students.

At last night's White County School Board meeting, the accolades kept rolling in for our TN Supervisor of the Year finalist, Ashley Rust! The Executive Director of the TN Educational Technology Association, Jill Pierce, presented Mrs. Rust with the TETA Middle Tennessee Member of the Year Award. This award was chosen by Mrs. Rust's peers across the state to recognize the work she has done to ensure safe, secure, and equitable access for students in White County Schools.

Last night's meeting also marked the conclusion of service for three school board members who have served their terms. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Jayson McDonald (District 5), Mrs. Sherrie Stone (District 6), and Mrs. Tracy Fowler (District 7) for their years of service and dedication to improving education in White County. We are grateful for the countless hours, ideas, and support they've generously shared for the sake of our students and teachers.
