Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest firefighters from the Carson Ranger District including engine crews, prevention patrols and fire management staff conducted a fire readiness review on Tuesday. Bridgeport Helitack , helicopter N406AS, and the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit engine crew based at Spooner Station also participated. Readiness reviews are a chance for firefighters to demonstrate proficiency in fire response, suppression skills and teamwork. Fire resources were dispatched to three mock fires to demonstrate initial attack skills including hose lays, line construction, chainsaw use, communication with dispatch and air resources, and overall communication and teamwork. The exercise was a success and provided a great opportunity to continue strengthening relationships and practicing fire response before smoke is in the air.
