The purpose of these posts are more than simply keeping their memories alive. They are more about the capacity of man to rise above the darkness in the soul of mankind. All involved showed their honor, courage and loyalty to something greater than mankind.

It is music which binds the boy and the man. They shed tears of pain for both sides at events like Kent State and Chicago 1968. They both sheds tears of healing. It was those who wished to represent our generation who incited both those events. But is was us who bled both heart and soul. Among us the new leaders used the truth inside us to sing our songs of freedom and redemption. For once a generation became willing to start the change in middle road of our joint humanity. Before and after generations used the most extreme point. They did this knowing they would have to end up in the middle. That in itself I consider a crime against humanity.
Jani in the tears of joy that are your memories, my own of the pain of my failures. Yours always stop mid cheek and bring the grin of the Cheshire cat out in me.
Mom thank you for the love and perseverance over the 14 years it took to teach me how to cry again.

30Apr1975: Saigon Falls the words are burned into my brain.

This will be my 50th return to hell. Once again wounds will reopen. This year I will fully engage that "many colored beast" that haunts me so. I plan on a trip to San Diego and the USS Midway.

My next duty station was to be the Admiral's staff (Intelligence) aboard her. Instead I transferred back to the reserves from which I had come from twenty six months prior. The ship was at the heart of Operation Frequent Wind which had been initiated by VQ-1 (the super spooks of the air.)

hWelcome Home all. Remembering David Friscia. Helo driver nominated twice for the CMoH. As his CO put it When you return with 869 holes ya done some s**t. Three crew kia, three POW kia, three former POW. If one of the crew hadn't been a General you'd probably get it. You ain't got a chance in hell.
There is so much more. Shot down three times in one day. Two of them in Cambodia. Stranded in a fire fight between NVA and Cambodian troops. Operation Red Wings
In the article I just posted yesterday not much is said of the men in the rescue Chinook. The radio transcripts make several things clear; To deploy without the gunships was certain death, The men on the ground were dying now, They could not let that go unabated, They could not and did not wait.

Because of his actions post event this page does not recognize the "lone survivor."
