Position: Family Services Manager Position Type: Full-Time/Salary
Reports to: Executive Director Hours per Week: 32-40 Hours
(Some Evenings & Weekends Required)
General Description: Manage Family Services programing from selection of new partner families to mortgage payoff. Oversee support services; process applications; ensure selected families are qualified; track βSweat Equity;β coordinate education courses and mentorship resources to guild Habitat Families throughout their time in our program(s); and supervise volunteers assisting with programs.
Qualifications/Required Skills:
Possesses a valid NV Driverβs License; agrees to provide three-year driving history report from NV DMV to prove driving record is free of transgressions.
Willing and available to work weekends and evenings on an as needed basis.
Experienced loan officer, underwriter, and/or mortgage professional able to take and pass annual Habitat International certifications.
Previous housing counselling experience is a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to work collaboratively with a wide array of personalities.
Thorough understanding of the challenges facing low-income families.
Possesses patience, understanding, and integrity, with excellent listening skills.
Good at managing volunteers and works well with little to no supervision.
Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
Possess strong ethical and moral character.
Maintains professional appearance and conduct.
Committed to the Habitat for Humanity Mission and Vision.
Dedication to serving the community with enthusiasm and great compassion.
Able and willing to pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Screening, as well as a Sexual Offender Registry Check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct annual application process: Plan, organize, and hold annual recruitment events; process applications; determine financial eligibility; and manage applicants. Schedule and conduct home visits with applicants who meet financial criteria; oversee and work closely with Family Services Committee to select families for recommendation by the Executive Director to the Board of Directors.
Regularly review the selection requirements, policy, and processes to assure they are effective, efficient, and in accordance with legal requirements; also ensure that policy and processes are compliant with Habitat for Humanity International guidelines and stipulations; maintain updated program materials to advertise; establish system to distribute materials to the community.
Serve as point of contact for individuals and organizations inquiring about Habitatβs Homeownership Program and other housing resources; maintain up-to-date resource list of other resources for families in need of housing assistance.
Provide consistent and transparent communication to current families and homeowners to support their success; serve as front-line communication to families currently enrolled.
Supervise volunteers who support Family Services Department.
Organize, schedule, and/or conduct homeowner education workshops and classes throughout the pre-construction, construction, and closing phases of the program to prepare families for the responsibilities of homeownership.
Monitor and track sweat equity hours, closing cost savings, and workshop attendance.
Maintain partner family, homeowner, and property files and paperwork.
Review and update policies, procedures and partner family manuals.
Coordinate complex and time-sensitive timelines for families in each stage of the homeownership process.
Serve as liaison between Habitat staff, construction site supervisors, committee members, and families to communicate and collaborate on issues affecting families such as policy and procedure, construction, scheduling, finances, and sweat equity.
Continue development of homeowner enrichment program(s) to provide continuing education opportunities.
Create process to capture metrics/data to track program milestones for partner families.
Actively serve on Family Services Committee(s); help board to recruit additional members.
Build partnerships with other nonprofits to provide additional services (education, job training, etc.) for partner families.
Coordinate steps necessary to take each family through settlement to move-in.
Ensure that families are educated and understand the settlement process and documents required for closing.
Work with staff to prepare Federal and State buyer documents prior to closing; work with families to complete all required documents.
Prepare closing documents (mortgage, notes, etc.).
Work with legal services to develop and maintain legal standards for settlements.
Schedule, plan, and coordinate home dedications with family, construction staff, and events staff.
Schedule and coordinate family move-in along with construction staff (final walk-through, homeowners insurance coverage, punch list completion, etc.).
Work with construction staff to manage warranty issues that arise and manage expectations of families.
