Last week, Powder Mill celebrated another incredible Field Day filled with laughter, teamwork, friendly competition, and memories that will last a lifetime.

This year's event was especially meaningful because it marked the final Powder Mill Field Day led by our amazing Physical Education teacher, Laura Hendrickson. While Laura will officially retire midway through next school year, this was her last opportunity to organize and lead one of the traditions she has helped make so special for generations of students.

For years, Laura has been far more than a PE teacher. She has encouraged students to challenge themselves, celebrate one another, stay active, and most importantly, have fun. Her impact can be seen in the smiles on students' faces, the confidence she has helped build, and the countless memories created on our fields and playgrounds.

Thank you, Laura, for your dedication, enthusiasm, and the care you have shown every child who has come through Powder Mill. We are grateful for all you have given to our school community and for making this final Field Day one to remember.

After spending weeks digging through mystery, history, and adventure in *Holes* by Louis Sachar, our Grade 5 students finally got to see the story come to life on the big screen!

Well… not exactly the big screen at a movie theater. Thanks to a special showing in the SRS auditorium, students enjoyed a true movie-day experience complete with the excitement of "going to the movies" right here on campus.

That’s a wrap on another amazing year at Woodland! 🎉💛

On the last day of school, our staff lined up to send students off with bubbles, big waves, and lots of hugs goodbye. It was a joyful and emotional send off, with smiles, laughter, and a few tears from both students and staff as we said goodbye for the summer.

Wishing all of our Woodland families a fun, relaxing summer. Don’t forget to keep reading! 📚☀️

Yesterday we celebrated our Preschool graduates at Woodland! 🎓💛

Students sang songs, enjoyed a slideshow, and proudly received their diplomas as we recognized all of their growth this year.

A highlight was their performance inspired by Don’t Stop Believin’, with lyrics like “just a little girl, living with her family…” and “just a little boy, living in Massachusetts… took the yellow bus to school one day.”

We are so proud of our Preschoolers and excited for what’s ahead! ✨

A Woodland tradition we look forward to every year! 🎉👏

Our 2nd graders took part in their annual parade march, heading outside as the rest of the school lined the way with signs, cheers, and lots of excitement. It was a special send-off filled with smiles, pride, and a few bittersweet moments as we celebrate their time at Woodland.

This parade is our way of saying bon voyage as they get ready for their next chapter.

Powder Mill, here they come! 🚀

Creativity + collaboration = something truly special! 🧵✨

Powder Mill’s 6th grade students visited Woodland to complete an incredible cross grade Art project with our Kindergarteners. Our Kindergarteners started by designing their own imaginative creatures on paper, full of unique details and personality.

Then the 6th graders got to work in Art class using felt, sewing skills, and a whole lot of care to bring those designs to life. Each creature was thoughtfully crafted to match the original drawings.

The best part? 6th graders returned to Woodland to hand deliver the finished creations. Kindergarteners were ecstatic seeing their ideas come to life, and both groups enjoyed spending time together and building connections across grade levels.

An unforgettable experience for everyone involved! 💛

Mr. Jasak’s final Positivity Project of the school year featured these outstanding Grade 3 students!

These student leaders helped create a video to answer thoughtful questions submitted by Grade 2 students who will be joining Powder Mill School next year. By sharing their experiences, offering encouragement, and helping future students feel more comfortable, they played an important role in making the transition to a new school a positive one.

This is yet another wonderful example of Powder Mill students spreading positivity, showing kindness, and helping others feel welcomed and supported. We are so proud of the leadership, empathy, and sense of community they demonstrated!
