A special evening full of Southlake history is coming up next week!

Our Southlake: 70 Years in the Making, will transform Legends Hall into a history museum, bringing together stories and exhibits from throughout Southlake’s past. Take your time exploring, revisiting familiar places and learning something new about the community around you and how it became what it is today!

Plus, longtime local favorites Feedstore BBQ and Armend’s will be serving up some of the flavors that are also part of Southlake’s story.

Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 5–7 p.m. at Legends Hall at The Marq Southlake, as we reminisce on 70 years of Southlake!

Twenty-five years later, Southlake continues its promise to never forget.

On this week’s SLK City Spotlight, Mayor Shawn McCaskill visits Liberty Garden to reflect on the significance of September 11 and how Southlake has honored the lives lost and those who served for more than two decades.

Dedicated in 2003, Liberty Garden has become a lasting place of remembrance in our community—a place to reflect on the lives lost, honor the courage and service of so many, and remember the unity that followed September 11, 2001.

Watch the latest SLK City Spotlight to learn more about this special place and Southlake’s tradition of remembrance.

Then, join us Friday, September 11, at 8:30 a.m. at Liberty Garden in Bicentennial Park for a special 25th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony as we remember the lives lost, honor those who served, and renew our commitment to never forget.

Seventy years ago this September, 54 residents gathered at the 1919 Carroll School and made a decision that would shape generations to come: they voted to create Southlake. Together with the Southlake Historical Society, we’re bringing 70 years of Southlake history together for one special evening.

Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 5–7 p.m. at Legends Hall for Our Southlake: 70 Years in the Making. Explore nine historical exhibits, rediscover the people and places that shaped our community, and enjoy longtime local favorites Feedstore BBQ and Armend’s.

We’re taking a look back at a beautiful afternoon at the Seniors Secret Garden Luncheon!
Guests gathered for lunch, live music, garden-themed trivia and a surprise rock painting activity. From creating one-of-a-kind keepsakes to competing for beautiful potted plants, the afternoon was filled with creativity, laughter and connection.
It was a wonderful reminder that our Senior Activity Center is about more than activities. It’s a place to build friendships, share experiences and enjoy time together.

Last Call to Apply!
There’s still time to apply for the 2026–2027 Southlake Youth Action Commission (SYAC), but the deadline is coming up fast!
SYAC gives high school students the opportunity to get involved in their community, gain hands-on experience with local government, participate in city activities and develop leadership skills along the way.
Applications are due Friday, August 21.
If you’re entering grades 9–12 and live in Southlake or attend Carroll ISD, don’t miss your chance to apply!

We had a great time at the Back to Campus Pickleball Bash this past Saturday! From friendly competition and open play to school spirit and plenty of laughs, it was the perfect way to kick off the school year.
