UPDATE - Roadway is back open

TRAFFIC ALERT | EASTBOUND SH 114 SERVICE ROAD

Southlake Police are currently conducting an investigation along the eastbound SH 114 service road, just before the N. Kimball Avenue intersection.

Eastbound traffic heading toward Grapevine is currently reduced to one lane. Please use caution in the area, expect delays, and consider an alternate route if possible.

We will provide an update when normal traffic flow has been restored.

Patricia has been safely located.

MISSING PERSON

Southlake Police are asking for the public’s help locating 82-year-old Patricia Gilliland.

Patricia was last seen leaving her residence on foot in the 600 block of E. Dove Road at approximately 10:15 this morning. She was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans with her hair in a bun.

Patricia is experiencing some health-related challenges, and we are concerned for her safety.

If you see Patricia or have any information about her whereabouts, please contact NETCOM immediately at 817-743-4527.

Please share this information to help us bring Patricia home safely.

SAVE THE DATE: SOUTHLAKE POLICE & FIRE TRUNK OR TREAT

One of our favorite fall traditions is just around the corner.

Join Southlake Police & Fire on Wednesday, October 28, for our annual Trunk or Treat! As always, this will be an evening of costumes, candy, decorated trunks, and time with your Southlake police officers, firefighters, and community partners.

4:00–5:00 p.m. | Sensory-Friendly Family Hour
This first hour is designed for families who may benefit from a calmer, more sensory-friendly Trunk or Treat experience. During this time, participating vendors will be asked to minimize lights, music, sound effects, and other noise to help create a more comfortable and welcoming environment.

5:00–7:00 p.m. | All Family Time
Beginning at 5:00 p.m., all families are invited through the gates to enjoy the full Trunk or Treat experience.

Whether your family joins us during the sensory-friendly hour or later in the evening, we look forward to another great opportunity to spend time together and celebrate with the community we proudly serve.

TRAFFIC ALERT | SOUTHLAKE BLVD. & BYRON NELSON PARKWAY

Heads up, Southlake!

The traffic signals at Southlake Boulevard and Byron Nelson Parkway are currently flashing red.

If you’re traveling through the intersection, please treat it as a four-way stop and use extra caution.

We’ll provide an update once the signals are restored to normal operation.

Southlake’s outdoor warning sirens will be tested today at 1:00 PM. If you hear sirens at that time, it’s part of the City’s regular monthly test. No action is needed!

Sirens are activated for the following conditions:
• A tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service
• A tornado or funnel cloud reported by trained storm spotters
• Sustained winds over 70 mph
• Hail larger than 1.25 inches
• Other emergencies as needed

When sirens sound outside of a test, it’s a signal to take the weather seriously and move to a safe location right away.

September is National Preparedness Month.

Today, Mayor Shawn McCaskill officially proclaimed September as National Preparedness Month in the City of Southlake.

This year's theme, Americans Stand Ready, encourages individuals, families, and communities to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies.

Throughout September, watch for our "Siren Says" series as the Southlake Siren shares preparedness tips, highlights community events, and encourages simple actions that can help you and your family stand ready for emergencies.

Siren Says: Be in the know. Take a moment today to identify where you'll receive emergency information during severe weather and other emergencies.

One mosquito trap has tested positive for West Nile virus. The trap is located in the 700 block of Ashleigh Lane. The City will conduct targeted mosquito spraying within a half-mile radius of the trap location on Tuesday night, Sept. 1, and Wednesday night, Sept. 2, weather and wind permitting.

Residents are encouraged to drain standing water, wear long sleeves, use insect repellent containing DEET, and take other precautions to help reduce mosquito activity.

The City of Southlake has received notice from Tarrant County Public Health that one mosquito trap in Southlake has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Southlake is proud to have members of the Southlake Fire Department showing up to support communities across Texas impacted by wildfires.

Captain KJ VanNatta, Captain Wes Adams, Engineer Brent Nobile and Firefighter Colby McSpedden have deployed as part of a statewide Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) response. They will work alongside fire departments from across the state to support wildland fire suppression and structure protection efforts as conditions continue to evolve.

Their deployments are expected to last approximately 7-14 days, with crews supporting operations in both the McGregor and Palestine areas alongside members of the Keene Fire Department and Lake City Fire Department.

We are grateful to our Southlake firefighters for answering the call to service and to the strong partnerships that make these statewide response efforts possible. Join us in recognizing their dedication to supporting Texas communities.
