Southington Republicans have reached a new low by rejecting the longstanding bipartisan tradition behind appointments to the Town’s Ethics Board.

For many decades, Southington has maintained a bipartisan approach to appointments, allowing both Democrats and Republicans a role in selecting members of the Ethics Board.

Why are Southington Republicans now seeking full control of the Ethics Board?

What has changed? Why abandon a bipartisan tradition that has served our town for decades? We thank Jim Morelli for standing strong against Republican leadership Paul Chaplinsky and Jen Clock. Why would the Republicans do this?

The Ethics Board should be above partisan politics. Southington residents deserve transparency, independence, and bipartisan representation, not one party control.
