SPFD has responded to numerous emergencies on Saturday afternoon due to a significant thunderstorm that has impacted parts of Moore County.
There are hundreds without power, trees are down blocking roads and on houses.
Assume all downed power lines are live and dangerous, do not approach them.
We are prioritizing calls and we will respond to every emergency accordingly, stay clear of these areas, let our emergency responders and power companies work through all of these incidents.
Stay Safe!

While some of you may be enjoying an early start to Labor Day weekend, our firefighters are taking a little trip down memory lane! ๐Ÿš’๐ŸŽถ

We asked members of Southern Pines Fire & Rescue to share the month and year they were born, then surprised them with the #1 song from that time. ๐ŸŽง

Some were instant classicsโ€ฆ others required a little explanation. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Either way, the reactions โ€” and dance moves โ€” did not disappoint!

What was the #1 song when YOU were born? ๐Ÿ‘€๐ŸŽต

The first United Way of Moore County, North Carolina Beat the SPFD Truck Pull is officially in the books! Seven teams came out to take their shot at beating Southern Pines Fire Department's time.

O'Donnell's Pub took first place, which feels especially fitting since they call our old fire station home. Pinehurst Fire Department came in second and proved our communities are in pretty good hands with two strong neighboring departments. Southern Pines Police Department rounded out the top three and we may never hear the end of it.

Thank you to everyone who came out, competed, and supported the United Way. Enjoy the bragging rights while they last because we will be ready to rematch next year!

๐Ÿ’œ International Overdose Awareness Day | August 31 ๐Ÿ’œ

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, support those who are struggling, and recognize the families, friends, and first responders affected by this crisis.

๐Ÿšจ Know how to respond to a suspected overdose:
โ€ข Call 911 immediately.
โ€ข Give naloxone (Narcan) if available.
โ€ข Follow the 911 dispatcherโ€™s instructions and provide rescue breathing/CPR if needed.
โ€ข Stay with the person until help arrives.

An overdose is a medical emergency. Every second matters, and your actions could help save a life.

๐Ÿ’œ Together, we remember. Together, we can save lives.

๐ŸŽ’๐ŸšŒ BACK TO SCHOOL = BACK TO SAFETY! ๐ŸšŒ๐ŸŽ’

As students head back to the classroom, letโ€™s all do our part to keep them safe!

๐Ÿš— Slow Down โ€” Watch for reduced speeds in school zones and be ready to stop.

๐ŸšŒ Stop for School Buses โ€” Never pass a stopped school bus when its red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended.

๐Ÿ‘€ Stay Alert โ€” Watch closely for children walking, biking, or crossing the streetโ€”especially near schools and bus stops.

A few extra seconds of patience can help make sure every student gets to school and back home safely. โค๏ธ

Have a safe and successful school year from Southern Pines Fire & Rescue! ๐Ÿš’
