Southbridge - Today I am opening Henry Street Park according to state guidelines. Citizens must follow the established guidelines that have been posted including wearing masks. Basketball courts still cannot be utilized until approved by the state.

Over the last number of year's we have worked hard to improve this park. The basketball courts have been refurbished although we need to address some new cracks, the swings have all been painted, new signs have been installed, a handball court has been built, and many other improvements have been made.

Now we have replaced the playground equipment for the small children to enjoy as seen in the attached pictures.

Going forward, I encourage the people who use the park and the entire neighborhood to protect this park and to continue to fight for upgrades.

The children deserve a safe place to play and to grow up in a positive manner.

Enjoy this beautiful playground.

Memorial Day Flag Placement
Good Morning,

The Southbridge Veterans Council and Veteran Service Officer are looking for volunteers to help place American flags at Veterans graves in our town. The following will be the date, time and cemetery that we will meet at:

May 22 @ 9 am @ the New Notre Dame Cemetery (Notre Dame,

Saint Hedwigs, and Morse Cemeteries
will be done on this day)

May 23 @ 9 am @ Oak Ridge Cemetery (Oak Ridge and St. Mary's will be done that day)

We understand there are some groups and individuals that help and volunteer doing this every year and we are so thankful yet we also understand that some volunteers will not be doing it this year because of COVID. We are asking that if you would like to volunteer please reach out to the Town's Veterans Service Officer @ (508) 764-5436 so he can screen and put down your information to ensure the safety of all (please refer to DPH's health guidance on higher risk individuals https://www.mass.gov/…/march-31-2020-assemblage-gu…/download).

Understanding the position we are currently in, the flags will be pre-staged in bundles to be handed out to groups or to individuals and will be reminded to maintain social distancing and if not be required to wear a mask or other face cloth (all volunteers will need to bring their own but we will make every effort to bring a few extras along with hand sanitizer).

We want to thank all those who will or would like to volunteer in the placement of these American flags! This time honored event in the memoriam of our Veterans who have perished is personal to a lot of our residents of our town and citizens of our nation.
