“It was great to attend the Franklin County Fair on Friday with local, state and community partners to celebrate the ribbon cutting of their new pavilion.

The pavilion will allow for fair attendees to enjoy a shaded spot during their visit and take a break between all the fun to be had at the fair. I enjoyed seeing all the entries in the Roundhouse and Youth Hall, as well as catching up with fair volunteers and exhibitors!” -AR

A Massachusetts landmark more than a century in the making. 🏛️

Construction of the Massachusetts Building began in 1918, and the building was dedicated in 1919 by then-Governor Calvin Coolidge. Designed as an almost exact replica of Boston’s Old State House, it was created to give Massachusetts a permanent presence at the fair.

Its purpose has evolved over the years—from agricultural materials and livestock displays to the Massachusetts foods, farms, businesses and experiences visitors discover today.

More than 100 years later, the Massachusetts Building is still telling the story of the Commonwealth.

A great day to come hungry and sample special bites while exploring the food vendors inside the Massachusetts Building.

💚 September 24 — Massachusetts Day
Celebrate the Commonwealth and spend some time discovering the Massachusetts businesses, makers, food, agriculture, and traditions represented throughout the building.

🌾 October 2 — Harvest New England Day
Celebrate the region’s agricultural roots with food and fiber and local products that make New England special.

And no matter which day you visit, make time to walk through the Massachusetts Building, meet the vendors, try something local, and experience a piece of Massachusetts at The Big E.
