It’s going to be a hot week!

As you get ready for celebrating the 4th of July, make sure to think about adding ways to stay cool.

While you’re out and about be sure to watch for signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and check in on those around you!

Please be advised that the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for our area - particularly between Wednesday 7/1/26 - Friday 7/3/26.

Residents are strongly encouraged to take precautions to stay safe during excess heat:

-Limit outdoor activity. Stay well hydrated and take plenty of shade breaks, particularly outdoor workers.
-Check in on potentially vulnerable family members, friends and neighbors - particularly the elderly, sick, or those without AC.
-Keep pets indoors on hot days. Avoid going outside during the hottest part of the day and keep pets well hydrated.
-Never leave children or pets in an unattended vehicle - look before you lock!
-Monitor yourself and others for signs of heat illness.

We are monitoring the risk for dangerous heat and humidity later this week, particularly through Wednesday and Friday. Heat indices may climb above 100F and overnight temperatures may not fall below 70F, providing little recovery from daytime heat and humidity.
