Our Story

Now more than ever, Whitko is coming together. For the first time, in the fall of 2018, students from 7th grade through 12 grade will be unified under the direction of Whitko Jr/Sr High School Principal John Snyder. Whitko's transition from 2 schools (WMS and WHS) and combining into one larger school is currently ongoing. As for the heart of a Wildcat, it resides not in a town, but across the entire community!

Located in South Whitley, Indiana, just off of HWY 14, you'll find Whitko Jr/Sr High School. Although WJSHS is located in South Whitley, residents from Pierceton, Sidney, and Larwill all travel to the home of the Whitko Wildcats. The outlying communities are well known for their contributions in the fields of agricultural, and inside the school the student academics boast award winning programming such as the AP TIP IN (Top 50 in the state Advanced Placement Dual Credit Courses), Double A ratings, as well as a 92% graduation rate. Athletically, WJSHS is home of the current Sectinal and Regional Softball Champions for the past 2 years back to back and the WJSHS Marching Pride competed at the state level in the fall of 2017, placing 10th! Whitko Baseball holds the 2017 sectional Title, while girls volleyball also won a sectional in 2017. Whitko Archery is a proud club of Wildcats who are among the top ranked in the state, nationally, and compete at World Competition Annually. In 2016, Whitko's own Amy Hurd clenched the #1 seat in the world for Bullseye Competition, and the program continues to show promise with examples like 2018 5th grade student Cassidy Skinner who placed 8th in the state for girls overall, and clenched the #1 ranking in the World as a 5th grade student! But don't forget about the Wildcat fans, The Blue Crew helped put Whitko one the map being named one of the Top 5 Most Spirited High Schools in America according the national competition hosted by Varsity Brands.

Our staff maintain a healthy academic commitment to the student body in the classroom in both practice and application, and our students receive the very best of 1-to-1 technology as well as student-to-instructor ratios. Whitko students thrive in settings that produce high achievements and that is why WJSHS was honored by the state of Indiana for its achievements in the Advanced Placement programming in 2017 and 2018. WJSHS is the home of West Point Military Academy Recruits, a Jr. ROTC Scholarship Recipient, and Athletic Scholarship Recipients including Division 1. At WHS, academics, athletics and the local community are celebrated through what has commonly become known as Whitko Pride.
