Minnesota is experiencing an influx of ICE agents and threats from the federal government. Governor Tim Walz has released a statement last night telling Minnesotans to stand strong and keep protesting, peacefully.

The ACLU of Minnesota has also filed a class action lawsuit challenging the civil rights violations in the city, and are calling for people to submit their experiences using the link in our slide. PLEASE SHARE TO ANYONE WHO COULD BE AFFECTED 🚨

We’re with you in this trying time, Minnesota 🫶🏼

‼️ Information on last slide about your rights ‼️

After the fatal shooting of Renee Good, the Trump administration has dispatched an additional 2000 ICE agents to the Minneapolis area. Since then, there have been more instances of violence, including the beating of Juan Carlos.

There have also been threats from the Trump administration to go “door-to-door” knocking to verify the citizenship of residents. This is dystopian, aggressive, and illegal. Unless there is a warrant signed by a judge with your name and address on it, ICE agents hold no right to enter your home.

Stay safe, stay vigilant, and stay aware of these changes happening in the country.

🏥 This Friday, Congress will end their session for winter holiday, and unless a vote happens to protect health care subsidies beforehand - millions of Americans are expected to loose healthcare in 2026. For 22 MILLION Americans, healthcare premiums will skyrocket.

🚨 Against the will of even other centrist Republicans, Speaker Mike Johnson is refusing to allow an amendment or vote on the issue of these tax subsidies which help make healthcare accessible for millions of Americans.

⏳ Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has put up a petition to force a vote on the subsidies, but becuase of House rules, it will not happen until the second week of January - unless Speaker Mike Johnson chooses to expedite the vote. This is unlikely, as he has stated repeatedly that he will not allow a vote to happen on ACA tax subsidies.

‼️ There is still (limited) time to do something! Call your legislators, especially if you are represented by a Republican, and implore them to sign onto the petition or advocate for an expedited vote.

🚨 The Trump Administration is currently increasing military activity in Venezuela. By using language about “drug trafficking” and the threats posed by “cartels,” they are justifying attacks in the open waters when Venezuela claims these men being targeted are honest fishermen. Some argue he is starting a war without the approval of Congress. This is completely inappropriate and could cost innocent lives.

👥 We at Alianza are coalition-builders, and in these moments, intersectionality is more important than ever. The Trump Administration is re-opening military bases on Puerto Rico, something that puts these citizens at risk. The treatment of Puerto Ricans as second-hand citizens and a place for military intervention puts them on risk for the sake of these political actions.

Today, we’re in Albuquerque, New Mexico, bringing young leaders from NYC and California together to grow, heal, and receive the medicine of this place. With leaders and partners from places like La Plazita Institute (), SWOP (), and others, we’re pouring into their leadership and their hearts. This is Youth Justice Action Month, and we’re uplifting these young people doing the work. Let’s make a commitment to support them fully – their leadership and their whole selves. this is an opportunity for us to build the next bench of leaders who are gonna continue fighting for our communities in the present and in the years to come. We must give them the spaces to build out their leadership practices in ways that also include an uplift, healing, wellness, joy, love.

Join us, pour into them, and let’s build this movement together.

🌟 As Latino Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re creating a space to open up an important conversation.

One of the most debated topics in our community is how we define ourselves.

We want to invite everyone into this conversation, not by emphasizing divisions, but by exploring our unique perspectives & lived experiences.

So we want to hear from you….let us know in the comments how do you identify yourself? 💬

Currently, the Trump administration is sending troops into Chicago - against the wishes of local police and people there.

Chicago has experienced significant declines in crime in the first half of 2025, just like many other US cities. Yet, the administration is still attempting to expand a narrative that crime is on the rise, cities are unruly, and they must step in to stop this. These are lies, and these lies are being used to expand military prescence and Immigration Activity in cities across the United States.

Chicagoans, stay safe, vigilant, and show up for one another in this moment. Become educated on how to protect your communities from ICE and band together. Continue to protest peacefully, as the administration looks for any excuse to militarize further.

Today, the Supreme Court paused a decision that found that the ICE raids in LA to be illegal. While the US District judge who initially ruled on this found that ICE agents were NOT making arrests on reasonable suspicion, but rather on factors like whether people appeared to be working on construction sites, spoke Spanish, and other discriminatory factors.

‼️‼️ Speaking Spanish is not a reason to be arrested nor detained. Being a construction laborer is not justification for harassment.

Today, Justice Kavanaugh stated that “common sense” criteria such as limited English proficiency is enough to justify being stopped for questions: Today, the US Supreme Court has consigned racial profiling against all Latinos.

🔔 We take solace and the opportunity to remind you of the words of Justice Sotomayor in her dissent: we do not sit idle as our constitutional rights are taken. 🔔

The Trump administration has already deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. - largely without the consent of governments there.

🚨 It is due time to raise alarms on how these administrative actions are not only undemocratic and an overstep of federal authority, but linked to the administrations broader immigration agenda machine. They aim to use every piece of government to attack not only undocumented immigrants, but others as well.

We wanted to spotlight this as there are going to be more and more attempts to mobilize in cities across the United States.

There are ways to stand-up and organization- read through the end to learn more. As always, check out our link in bio for more resources and our sources.

Last night, we gathered at the office to celebrate something truly special: the completion of our Emerging Leaders Program with an amazing cohort of young Latine, Afro-Latine, and Indigenous leaders from across NYC. 🌟

We had 12 out of 13 young people join us from all five boroughs, and the evening was filled with heartfelt reflections on leadership, shared stories, and a sense of genuine community. Some of our participants even teared up as they spoke about how this was one of the few spaces where they felt safe to be vulnerable and truly be themselves. In summary: our program offered the space for them to truly delve deep into their own leadership practices in vulnerable ways.

Thanks to the generous support from the Pinkerton Foundation and the community love that made this possible, we’re not only celebrating these young leaders today—we’re looking ahead to launching new cohorts in Illinois and New Mexico with the support of the as well. The journey of leadership and healing continues, and we are so proud to be that home where brilliance and community thrive. 💫

Thank you to our emerging leaders for showing up fully into the program and giving us at Alianza the opportunity to witness their leadership flourish. We love each and everyone of you and please know that we will be part of your community of support always! (Perioddddd!! 😎)

Here is to building a true Alianza rooted in dignity, healing, and opportunity! 🥂

✨ Honoring Justice for Families ✨

These photos are just a small glimpse of the incredible work and community that Justice for Families continues to build. Led by the powerful vision and heart of Jeanette Bocanegra, this organization has been a lifeline for families impacted by the juvenile justice system.

Jeanette’s leadership comes not only from her own lived experience as a mother navigating the system, but also from her deep commitment to making sure no parent or caregiver has to walk that path alone. Through Justice for Families, countless families have found the strength to advocate, organize, and push for the changes our communities need.

We were honored to be invited into these moments — to witness the love, resilience, and organizing power that this community carries. Our role was simply to show up in solidarity, to learn, and to uplift the work that Justice for Families has been leading for years.

💛 Deep gratitude to Jeanette and the entire Justice for Families team for showing us what it truly means to fight with courage, lead with love, and walk the walk for the next generation.
