* Tuesday September 9- 1100 to 1330 SSC Chamberettes Luncheon, Bake Sale, and Raffles. This will be at the South Sioux City Legion Hall, 109 E 19th St, South Sioux City, NE (see flyer attached)

* Thursday September 11- Need help at 0900 and the ceremony will be at 1900. The call for help this Thursday in preparation for our annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony: we need volunteers at 0900 at the Siouxland Freedom Park, we are requesting assistance in hanging the flags that will be retired later in the evening ceremony. The service is held to honor and remember the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States and all veterans of the ongoing war of terrorism. As part of the service, a dignified Retirement and Disposal Ceremony for old and damaged American flags will be held. Event organizers include Dakota County American Legion, VFW Posts, local and tri-state Fire and Rescue Departments, Dakota County Sheriff’s Department, South Sioux City Police Department and Dakota County Emergency Management.

* Saturday September 27 0900-1300 SSC American Legion Auxiliary Unit 307 Autumn Craft Fair. South Sioux City Legion Hall, 109 E 19th St, South Sioux City, NE (see flyer attached)
Monday October 6 Monthly Meeting 1900. Please consider attending our meetings, we are experiencing declining membership, and we would like to get more people involved. Involvement helps our voice be heard not just in the local community, but at the national level and covers a wide variety of veteran issues. Be part of the solution and the future.

* Waffles for Warriors the last Wednesday of every month 8:00 – 10:00 a.m. This is for veterans and families held at the Elks Lodge 1001 Tri-View Ave, Sioux City, IA

Post #307 is a proud partner and contributor to the Siouxland Freedom Park. Here are a few things happening at SFP:

* There is a continual need for volunteers for the Brigadier General Bud and Doris Day Interpretive Center at Siouxland Freedom Park Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Shifts consist of one or more two-hour shifts: 10:00 a.m. -12:00 noon, 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m., and 2:00- 4:00 p.m. Sign up here https://bit.ly/SFPICVolunteer2024

* SFP Golf Tournament- 28 September, Covington Links SSC, NE. The annual SFP Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 28th at Covington Links Golf Course in South Sioux City, NE. We will tee off at noon and play 18 holes (best ball). Included with your registration is a meal and some Siouxland Freedom Park golf swag.
Cost per Golfer: $75

* Saturday October 11- The 5th Annual SFP Freedom Ball South Sioux City Marriott Riverfront. We’re honored to welcome comedian and motivational speaker Bobby Henline as our keynote. A retired Army Staff Sergeant and four-tour Iraq War veteran, Bobby is the sole survivor of a devastating roadside bomb attack. Enjoy an evening of exceptional food and wine, a live auction led by Randy Stabe and Clint Vos of Stabe Auction and Realty, and heartfelt moments throughout the night. Your emcees will be KTIV’s Al Joens and his wife, Freedom Park Board Member Melissa Lanzourakis. Proceeds from Freedom Ball 2025 will support the creation of a shelter and reflection area surrounding Siouxland Freedom Park’s Freedom Rock. This new addition will honor 11 local heroes, with 4-foot pillars sharing their biographies.

We will communicate Legion happenings and meetings in this manner. I have less than 70 emails for our Post membership, so less than half are getting any kind of update. We would like to utilize the email for membership and monthly things happening at the Post. If you see someone not in the header- please forward it to them as well as notify me so I can get them added. Football is back, and the lounge is open.....manner.
