Our Freshman Academy wrapped up the year in the best way possible—with a celebration full of recognition, fun, and Cardinal pride! ❤️🖤

Students spent the afternoon in the Little Theater reflecting on an incredible year, hearing from Mrs. Avila, and celebrating their growth through our Freshman Five. We recognized students for academic excellence, perfect attendance, leadership as Freshman Academy Ambassadors, and participation in NSAA activities. We also honored our Freshman Five of the Year winners and awarded the coveted Academy Cup to our top team: Team Soar! The energy was high with a fan-favorite moment—Pie the Teachers on the winning team! 🥧

From there, the celebration continued in the aux gym with a drone photo, raffle prizes, popsicles, games, and plenty of laughs!

A huge shoutout to our Team Fly and Team Soar teachers and all of our students for making this year one to remember. We are so proud of the Class of 2029 and can’t wait to see what’s next!

Mrs. Goetz, Ms. Gall, and the HOSA Chapter (Health Occupations Students of America) had their first successful college visit! They visited Bryan College of Health Sciences in Lincoln, NE, where students learned about an amazing local school designed specifically for those interested in healthcare. Students learned about their programs, their summer camps, learned about plastination and got to observe a plastinated body, toured the simulation labs and even delivered babies (simulated of course)!
The students were very excited and really enjoyed the chance to see what college learning may look like, as well as seeing the technology and resources available to them at the post-secondary level.

Last Friday, our Upper Academies welcomed our incoming sophomores with an afternoon full of games, ice cream, prizes, photos, and fun! 🎉

Students had the opportunity to meet their academy staff, connect with classmates, explore the academy, and end the school year feeling welcomed and supported. From yard games, a photo booth, raffle prizes, and friendly competitions, the event was a great way to kick off the year together. ✨

We’re excited to see the academy groups grow throughout the next year and can’t wait for everything ahead!

It was a great morning for The Academies of South Sioux City High School celebrating the Semester 2 Students of the Month. Students and families came to the high school to mingle and socialize with the staff and teachers and to be recognized for their outstanding achievements this semester! Congratulations!

Today our Intro to Digital Media & Production and Digital Media Production (School News) students had an incredible opportunity to visit Western Iowa Tech Community College!
Students toured campus, experienced what college life looks like, and explored the wide variety of programs WIT has to offer. A highlight of the day was visiting the Mass Communications department, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at professional TV, radio, and audio production studios the program has to offer. 🎥🎙️

A meaningful surprise on the tour came when students saw a former SSCHS School News student now part of the Mass Communications program at WIT—helping them connect what they’re learning now to what their future could look like.

Our students had a fantastic experience and left feeling inspired about their future possibilities. Thank you, WIT, for a great visit! 🙌
