O'Connor Emergency Management

O'Connor Emergency Management I help you with all hazards emergency planning for your family, business, school or other organization

I am a Firefighter / Paramedic and proud husband and Father who realized the importance of all hazards planning for everyone following 9/11 and am passionate about helping educate others about the importance of planning for emergencies BEFORE the occur. Research has shown that for every $1 spent in mitigating a risk prior to a disaster, $4 can be saved in recovering from that same disaster. Simply

spending $2 on some museum putty can save hundreds of dollars of pieces of art by preventing them from falling during an earthquake. I will help you combat the fear of large disasters by giving you the knowledge you need to discover simple steps that can be taken to make it easier to get back to normal following a major disaster. None of us want to think of the consequences of large scale incidents, many of us take a "wait and see" approach to things like earthquakes, floods or other large incidents which pose a real risk for us. Family Disaster Planning
I will help you evaluate what hazards may pose a risk to you and your family based on science and historical data. Using this all hazards approach, we can then develop a plan which addresses these risks and provides not only a plan of what to do following a disaster, but what you can do now to minimize the impact on your families life. Business Emergency Planning
If you own a business or work for a large corporation I can help you manage risk by identifying those areas of your business that must continue functioning not only for its survival, but perhaps growth following a disaster. Wouldn't you prefer to be the first business in your specialty area able to serve customers following a major incident? I can help you develop a plan that puts tasks in language your workers understand and then train your workers on the plan. I can even design an exercise to test your companies readiness or ability to manage by objectives following an emergency. My belief is that with the knowledge of what we can do to prepare, how we respond, and most importantly what is the best path to return to normal, we can take some of the fear out of anticipating emergencies that affect our life.

Interesting research you may want to take the time to read. Considering this year we have had a California record snowfall and the weight pressing down upon the Sierras is greater than it has been in recorded history. Combine that with excessive heat from climate change and this fall could have a higher potential for a severe earthquake.

Have a plan, be equipped and fight fear with knowledge. Any questions, just ask

As mountain snows and surface water shift around the state, their changing mass can make mischief with seismic faults.
