CUSTOMER NOTICE – WATER SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

Dear Twin Lakes Water Customers,

Twin Lakes Water Co., Inc. recently performed maintenance work on the water system as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the reliability of the system.

As a temporary after-effect of this work, some customers may experience discolored or cloudy water. This can occur following water-system maintenance when naturally occurring minerals and sediment within the system are temporarily disturbed.

The Westchester County Department of Health is aware of the maintenance work being performed.

At this time, the system simply needs an opportunity to settle and return to normal operating conditions. Any discoloration should be temporary and will improve as the system stabilizes.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while the system settles following this important maintenance. The work being performed is part of our continued commitment to providing the Twin Lakes community with a safe and reliable water supply.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

⚠️ EXPECT LOWER WATER PRESSURE ⚠️

THESE RESTRICTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN THE VIABILITY OF THE WATER SYSTEM

Effective Immediately

Due to excessive system-wide water demand, all customers are required to comply with the following restrictions to help maintain adequate water pressure and ensure reliable service for the entire community.

REQUIRED WATER USE RESTRICTIONS

*ONLY hand-held hoses may be used for any outdoor watering.

*All landscapers, gardeners, contractors, and property maintenance companies working on your property must comply with these restrictions.

*The use of sprinklers, irrigation systems, soaker hoses, drip irrigation, timers, or any unattended watering device is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

*Filling or topping off swimming pools, hot tubs, ponds, skating rinks, storage tanks, or any other large water-holding containers is NOT PERMITTED.

*Water-cooled air-conditioning systems are NOT PERMITTED.

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY

Customers are responsible for all water used on their property, including water used by:

* Family members
* Guests
* Tenants
* Landscapers
* Contractors
* Property maintenance companies
* Any other person using water on the property

CHECK FOR WATER WASTE

Water consumption throughout the system is EXTREMELY high.

Please inspect your property immediately for:

* Running or leaking toilets
* Dripping faucets
* Running hoses
* Underground leaks
* Malfunctioning irrigation equipment
* Any other unnecessary water use

Even small leaks can waste hundreds of gallons of water each day.

ENFORCEMENT

These restrictions are NOT voluntary. They are mandatory requirements established under the Water System Rules and Regulations to protect the integrity of the public water system and ensure adequate service for all customers.

Failure to comply may result in enforcement action, including penalties or interruption of water service, as permitted under the Water System Rules and Regulations.

💧 REMINDER NOTICE REGARDING MISUSE OF WATER AND SERVICE DISCONNECTION 💧

This notice serves as a reminder of the terms and conditions outlined in the current tariff for Twin Lakes Water Company, Inc., as approved by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC), effective June 1, 2021.

In accordance with the tariff, all customers are expected to use water responsibly and in compliance with company policies. We want to emphasize that misuse of water may result in disconnection of service.

Examples of water misuse include, but are not limited to:

• Watering lawns using automatic sprinklers, soaker hoses or irrigation systems

• Filling or topping off swimming pools or hot tubs

• Use of water for decorative fountains or other non-essential purposes

Only the use of a handheld hose with an automatic shutoff nozzle is permitted for outdoor watering.

EXTREMELY HIGH WATER USAGE!

==========

THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AND HAS GOTTEN SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE IN THE LAST FEW HOURS!

==========

Our water usage has more than tripled in the last few hours, and the current level of demand is not sustainable for our system.

This strongly indicates that one or more significant leaks are still active.

Based on conditions and usage patterns, it is most likely that multiple outside hose bibs/spigots have frozen, split, and are now continuously discharging water into yards or surrounding areas.

PLEASE CHECK INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOME IMMEDIATELY FOR FROZEN PIPES, LEAKS, OR RUNNING WATER.

==========

If you are not currently home, please arrange for someone to check your property as soon as possible.

After checking, please email or text us your service address and property status.

Also, if you know of any water flowing up onto the street from below ground, or have noticed unusual puddling, please let us know.

Please contact us with any information you have regarding this situation so we may address any issues as soon as possible.

Thank you!
