Heads up South St. Paul! Residents may notice increased air traffic over the area on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 27, as the 2026 Special Olympics Airlift uses St. Paul Downtown Airport.

The airlift will help bring athletes and coaches to Minnesota for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Although aircrafts will not be using Fleming Field, some may travel along routes near the river and be more visible or audible in our community.

Thank you for your understanding as our region helps welcome Special Olympics athletes from across the country!

The Regrowing Shade in South St. Paul program will kick off its tree planting efforts on Monday, June 15, marking an important milestone in restoring South St. Paul's tree canopy!

If you live in the Phase 1 area, you can expect to see crews installing trees in the boulevards in your neighborhood next week.

A total of 300 new trees will be planted during Phase 1. That means 300 new opportunities for shade while walking your dog, for seeing birds in your neighborhood, and for enjoying greener, more vibrant streets!

For more information, contact Monika Miller, our Senior Planner, at 651-554-3273 or [email protected].

Things are coming together at Lorraine Park! Over the past couple of weeks, crews have been working on several playground upgrades. Yesterday and today, contractors have been completing the poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing.

This work marks one of the final steps in the playground improvement process, and we’re looking forward to welcoming the community back to enjoy the updated space!

We appreciate the community’s patience as these upgrades continue.
