🚒 Training Together. Responding Together. 🚒

There’s no substitute for hands-on training—especially when the people beside you during training may be the same people beside you on the next major emergency.

South Royalton Fire Department recently hosted a multi-department training featuring a school bus rollover scenario. Crews had the opportunity to work through stabilization, patient access, extrication, equipment operations, and the challenges that come with removing a patient from a large vehicle on its side.

A huge thank you to the members of Tunbridge Fire Department, Barnard Fire Department, Bethel Fire Department, and Sharon Fire Department who joined South Royalton for the evening.

For our small, rural departments, mutual aid is incredibly important. Incidents like this can require a tremendous amount of manpower, equipment, communication, and coordination. Training together gives everyone the opportunity to become familiar with neighboring crews and their equipment before we’re working together at a real emergency.

And sometimes training means one’s own Fire Chief gets volunteered to play the patient! 😄 The crews got some excellent practice safely packaging and removing their “victim” from the overturned bus.

Thank you to everyone who participated, helped organize the scenario, supplied equipment, and gave their time to make this training possible.

On September 11 at 7pm the members of the South Royalton Fire Department would like to invite you all to a 9/11 ceremony commemorating 25 years since the initial attacks on the United States. This will be held on the South Royalton green. Please bring a lawn chair. If you have any questions regarding this event please reach out to Tim Parker 802-356-2264

Have to have dessert after Beans and Chicken!

Red Door Church will be selling strawberry shortcakes at the upcoming Old Home Days event once again. Proceeds go towards our church community outreach programs. Be sure to come hungry!

Rest Easy Chief

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of retired Sharon Fire Chief David Potter .David dedicated many years of service to the Sharon community and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family friends and fellow firefighters during this difficult time.
