🐻 Black Bear Reported in North Coventry Township

The North Coventry Township Police Department responded this morning to the Scholl Road area following reports of a black bear in a residential neighborhood. The bear had left the area prior to officers arriving, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission has been notified.

Residents are reminded to:

• Do not approach or feed the bear.
• Keep children and pets under close supervision.
• Secure trash cans, bird feeders, pet food, and other attractants.
• Give the animal space and allow it to move on.
• Report sightings to the North Coventry Township Police Department.

Black bears are native to Pennsylvania and are generally not aggressive. Most sightings involve bears passing through an area and they typically move on if left undisturbed.

🚨🚨 BOIL WATER ADVISORY 🚨🚨

The North Coventry Water Authority has issued a Boil Water Advisory (BWA) for service connections on Riverside Drive in North Coventry Township following a water main break that resulted in a loss of positive pressure.

The following service connections may be affected:

1001, 1019, 1020, 1025, 1028, 1050, 1053, 1054, 1058, 1063, 1069, 1075, 1079, 1085, 1086, 1089, 1099, 1102, 1104, 1110, 1111, 1119, 1120, 1123, 1155, and 1197 Riverside Drive.

Residents at these addresses should boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or food preparation. Bottled water may also be used.

After repairs have been completed and pressure has been restored, the advisory will remain in effect until two consecutive days of samples are negative for total coliform bacteria with compliant chlorine residuals.

Additional information will be provided when the advisory has been lifted.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for portions of Chester, Berks, Montgomery, and Delaware Counties until 5:30 PM.

• Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor.
• Stay away from windows and exterior walls.
• If you are outdoors, in a vehicle, or in a mobile home, seek sturdy shelter immediately.
• Monitor local news, weather alerts, and trusted sources for updates.

Damaging winds, large hail, and a possible tornado are possible with this storm.

A Flood Watch has been issued for our area from 2:00 PM today through 6:00 AM Tuesday.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, with the greatest threat currently expected between 3 PM and 11 PM.

Potential hazards include damaging wind gusts, heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding, frequent lightning, and an isolated tornado.

📱 Have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings.

🚗 Never drive through flooded roadways. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

🚧 If barricades are placed due to flooding or other hazards, please do not move or drive around them. They are placed for your safety.

Continue to monitor the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service.

As we head into Monday, showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, with the potential for strong to severe storms during the afternoon and evening hours.

⚡ Frequent lightning

🌪️ An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out

📱 Make sure emergency alerts are enabled on your phone.

🏠 Know where you would take shelter if severe weather threatens.

📻 Have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings.

⏰ The greatest threat for severe weather is currently expected between 3 PM and 11 PM Monday.

⚠️ FLASH FLOOD WARNING ⚠️

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 2:30 AM Monday for North Coventry Township and the surrounding area.

Flooding is already occurring, and additional rainfall is expected overnight. Conditions can change rapidly.

🌧️ Flooding is especially dangerous at night.

Darkness makes it difficult to see flooded roadways, washed out shoulders, or debris. Water may appear shallow, but even a small amount of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the road.

🚗 Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
Never drive through flooded roadways.

Please use extra caution around:
• Low-lying areas
• Creeks and streams
• Underpasses
• Roads prone to flooding

📱 Have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts and keep your phone charged overnight.

🏠 If you live in an area prone to flooding, remain alert and be prepared to move to higher ground if conditions worsen.

🚴 IRON TOUR BIKE RIDE TODAY

The Iron Tour Bike Ride will be traveling through portions of North Coventry Township today. Motorists should expect increased bicycle traffic throughout the Township.

Roads expected to experience heavier bicycle traffic include:

• Neiman Road
• S. Hanover Street
• Kemp Road
• Keim Street
• Cedarville Road
• And other roads throughout the Township

Please use caution, slow down, and give cyclists plenty of room. Bicyclists are permitted to ride within the lane of travel.
