⚠️ FLOOD WATCH: TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY

A Flood Watch is in effect from midnight tonight through noon Sunday.

The main concern for our area will be between midnight and 9:00 AM Sunday. Stronger showers and thunderstorms could produce rainfall rates around 2 inches per hour, leading to localized flash flooding, road closures, and flooding along smaller creeks and streams.

Flooding at night is especially dangerous because water covering a roadway can be difficult to see. Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Use extra caution if traveling overnight and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts while you are sleeping.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 – September 11, 2026

25 years.

Today marks 25 years since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks—a day that forever changed our nation and the lives of so many.

We remember the 2,977 people who never made it home that day. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the dispatchers and emergency personnel who answered the call, the medical professionals and volunteers who cared for others, and the countless people who stepped forward to help however they could.

We remember the families who lost loved ones, the survivors who carry the memories of that day, and the responders who continued to serve in the days and months that followed. We also remember those who have since lost their lives from illnesses related to their service and recovery efforts.

Twenty-five years later, an entire generation has grown up without personally remembering September 11. It is our responsibility to continue sharing the stories of those we lost, the courage of those who responded, and the way communities across our country came together in the days that followed.

Today, we remember their lives, honor their service and sacrifice, and ensure their stories are never forgotten.

25 years later, we still remember. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

⚠️ TRAFFIC ADVISORY

Residents are advised to use caution in the areas of Hanover Street and Main Street, as well as Hanover Street and River Road, due to a very large car show taking place in Pottstown.

Traffic is already heavily congested. Please avoid the area if possible and allow additional travel time if you must travel through it.

🚧 ROAD CLOSED 🚧

The 1600 block of Chestnut Hill Road is closed between Marshall Drive and Malvern Drive due to a tree down on wires.

Asplundh is currently on scene. The roadway is closed to all vehicles, and the estimated reopening time is unknown.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route.

⚠️ Severe Weather Update – Wednesday, September 2

We got lucky last night, with most of the stronger storms and impacts staying south of North Coventry. Unfortunately, we aren’t completely in the clear yet.

There is another chance for storms around 2:00 PM, followed by a second round beginning around 7:00 PM and continuing overnight into Thursday morning. The exact timing and coverage are still uncertain.

Any storms that become severe could bring:

Damaging winds of 58 mph or greater
Hail of 1 inch or larger
An isolated tornado
Heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding

Damaging winds remain the main concern, especially with any storms that move through overnight.

Please continue to monitor the forecast and make sure you have a way to receive weather alerts while you’re sleeping. As always, never drive through a flooded roadway.

UPDATE — 7:38 PM: The Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 8:00 PM. The storm was located near Bally and moving southeast at 25 mph. Continue to remain indoors and away from windows.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Chester County, including the Pottstown area, until 8:00 PM.

Hazards:

Wind gusts up to 60 mph
Quarter-size hail
Possible damage to trees, power lines, roofs, siding, and vehicles

Move indoors and stay away from windows. If possible, park vehicles in a garage or beneath sturdy cover. Remain alert for changing conditions and additional warnings.
