The severe weather outlook for today was updated to expand the level 2 risk over a larger portion of central Illinois, mainly east of the Illinois River and north of I-70. While some isolated storms this morning will produce hail near and west of the Illinois River, the main focus remains late afternoon and especially this evening.

03/26/2026

There remains a significant threat of severe weather across much of central Illinois later today, especially this evening. The highest risk (level 3 of 5) extends from about Peoria and Springfield eastward; this area has the highest chance of seeing hail larger than golf balls, and wind gusts over 70 mph. The window for tornadoes is smaller than the overall severe weather threat, generally before 8 pm. As the storm push further south toward I-70 by late evening, they will be in a weaker state, but still capable of producing some hail and strong winds. Continue to monitor the weather today, especially as we get later into the afternoon hours, and be prepared to move quickly if severe weather threatens your area.

03/13/2026

We're asking that nobody burn today (March 13) due to high winds.

03/11/2026

To our neighbors in the Maple/Point Pleasant area… there’s a downed power pole that is energized at the south end of Maple. Please proceed with caution. Ameren has been notified and will respond as they become available.

03/10/2026

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop by late this afternoon or early evening near a warm front draped between the I-74 and I-80 corridor. Storms will become more widespread across central Illinois late this evening and overnight.

⏰ Don’t Forget: Spring Forward This Weekend! 🌷

When you set your clocks forward one hour for Daylight Saving Time, take a few extra minutes to check and replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. 🔋🚨

Working alarms save lives. A properly functioning smoke alarm can give you the early warning you and your family need to get out safely in the event of a fire.

✅ Test each alarm in your home
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Make sure you have alarms on every level and near sleeping areas

It only takes a minute, but it can make all the difference.

Help keep your family safe this spring! 🌼

A warm front lifts across the region this morning & afternoon bringing an initial round of storms and possible severe weather. Another round is expected tonight as a cold front moves through. Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and an isolated tornado or two are all possible.

02/27/2026

Red Flag Warning in effect west of I-55 today due to windy, warm, & dry conditions. SW winds will gust 25-35 mph, with relative humidity dropping to 20-30%. High risk for rapid fire spread. Avoid open burning & use caution with any outdoor equipment that might generate sparks.
