Friends of the South Pasadena Library

Friends of the South Pasadena Library Since our library's genesis as a "free public reading room" in the 1890s, it has enjoyed the support of public-spirited community leaders.

Today, more than 700 Friends help to maintain our library's role as a cornerstone of community life. The mission of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc. is to serve the informational, educational, recreational, and cultural needs of the patrons of the Library and the community at large. The Friends contribute their time, effort, and resources and seek to engage the widest possibl

e community participation in this effort. Since our library's genesis as a "free public reading room" in the 1890s,
it has enjoyed the support of public-spirited community leaders. In 1950, that support crystallized with the formation of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc. The Friends support and enhance library services in many ways. As a member, you may choose to volunteer for:

The Friends Bookstore: staffing
Restoration Concerts: refreshments
Special event committees: planning, logistics

or to contribute to the Technology Endowment Fund or Book Endowment Fund, perpetual memorials whose income is dedicated to the purchase
of high-quality books and materials not affordable through the library's regular budget.
