This was sent out from the IAAI Fire Investigation Standards Committee (FISC). I would strongly urge our membership to read the proposed changes to 1033 and submit applicable challenges, changes, edits, etc., to the document. This is your opportunity to participate in a process that directly affects your qualifications to do your job and how you may be challenged in court.

Our condolences go out to family and friends.

A Message from President David Bridges:

Dear IAAI Members

It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of IAAI-Past President William “Bumper” Moylan (2018-2019). I received the news today from IAAI-Past President Scott Bennett.

Bumper also previously served as an IAAI-Director and Past President of IAAI-Chapter No. 9, Fire Investigators of Florida, Inc. He resided in the Tampa, Florida area for many years.

Many of us had the pleasure to get to know Bumper over the years. He was a dear friend. Bumper shared countless memorable times and stories that left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His humor, stories, and friendship will be remembered alongside his many contributions to the IAAI and the fire and explosion investigation community.

Please keep Bumper’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Arrangements will be forthcoming.

Very truly yours,

David

David E. Bridges, IAAI-CFI, IAAI-CI
President 2025-2026
IAAI-Training & Education Committee Chair
International Association of Arson Investigators, Inc.
