Readiness reviews prepare wildland firefighters for the busy season ahead!

Just off of Genoa Peak Road at Spooner Summit, fire engines, hotshots, patrols, and helicopter crews responded to a wildfire scenario as part of an annual evaluation process called Readiness Reviews.

John Chester, Assistant Forest Fire Management Officer on the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, evaluated the physical and mental preparedness for the upcoming fire season. “We’re gearing up for and preparing for a very active fire season across the west,” Chester said.

Temporary Burn Suspension Alert: Due to forecasted fire weather conditions, including increased winds, CAL FIRE is temporarily suspending all outdoor residential burning within the State Responsibility Areas of Amador, El Dorado, Alpine, Sacramento, and San Joaquin counties beginning at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, through Friday, June 12.

We will continue to closely monitor conditions and will provide another update Friday afternoon regarding the status of burning for the remainder of the week and the season.
