Communities around the Sierra Nevada are re-grouping and putting together events to help the environment recover from the unprecedented fire damage. Check with the local organizations in your area, or the area you feel connected with, and find out how you can help. One of SNA's member groups and AmeriCorps host sites, Alpine Watershed Group has such an event coming up this weekend. Know of others? Post them below and on the the Sierra Nevada Alliance website and we can help spread the word.

Bill and Mary Young are hosting a watershed restoration weekend in Markleeville CA. The Musser & Jarvis watershed supplies water to the town of Markleeville. After the Tamarack fire, most of the vegetation around the stream has not grown back. Volunteers to help with wattle staging on Saturday, November 20th and seeding on Sunday, November 21st are greatly needed!

We are so excited to welcome our 2021-22 SNAP cohort!!

16 SNAPs joined us near Yosemite for in-person orientation training this week. We were able to get some fieldwork in with Gold 5 of AmeriCorps NCCC Pacific Region, who are serving with Tuolumne River Trust and Camp Tuolumne Trails in Groveland, CA. We did trail maintenance on Stanislaus National Forest trails at Rush Creek Lodge at Yosemite, who have been generous supporters of Rim Fire recovery efforts.

Looking forward to the great work the SNAPs will be doing this year!

Already missing the 2021 SNAP cohort? We are too!! If you wanted a reminder about the great work that our SNAP members do, check out this blog post that our SNAPs at the Feather River Land Trust contributed to with their host site: https://www.frlt.org/blog/snap-americorps-summer-2021/

Peter and Nico were half-term members at FRLT, and spent the summer managing invasive weeds, supporting conservation easement monitoring and reporting, and more. Nico also designed an improved property patrol log, and Peter implemented a new trail camera program for the land trust. We are proud of our SNAP members for their hard work and contributions to their host sites!
