🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY 🚨

The South Kingstown Fire Department is currently working a residential structure fire in the area of Route 138. As a result, Route 138 is closed between Route 1 and Rose Hill Road, including the area near The Farmer's Daughter.

Emergency personnel are working diligently to reopen the roadway as soon as it is safe to do so.

For those attending the high school commencement ceremonies at the Ryan Center this evening, motorists are encouraged to take Route 2 South to Route 138 East and enter the URI campus via Plains Road.

Please avoid the Route 138 corridor between Route 1 and Rose Hill Road if possible and seek alternate routes.

We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as emergency crews continue their work.

Today, members of the South Kingstown Police Department were honored to once again participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Rhode Island, proudly es**rting the Flame of Hope through the South County leg of the run.

Officers ran approximately 12 miles through South Kingstown and Narragansett, carrying the Flame of Hope and helping raise awareness and support for the incredible athletes of Special Olympics Rhode Island. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Union Fire District of South Kingstown, Rhode Island for joining us and providing es**rt support along the route.

The athletes of Special Olympics Rhode Island inspire us all through their determination, perseverance, courage, and sportsmanship. They remind us that success is measured not only by victories but by the commitment to overcome challenges, support one another, and never give up on their goals.

We are proud to stand alongside these remarkable athletes. On behalf of the South Kingstown Police Department, we wish all of the athletes competing this weekend the very best of luck. May each athlete enjoy a safe, successful, and memorable weekend. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance inspire us all, and we are honored to support you as you compete this weekend.

Today, members of the South Kingstown Police Department were honored to stand alongside our brothers and sisters from across Rhode Island in remembrance of Officer Ryan J. Bourque on the 10th anniversary of his End of Watch.

Ryan’s sacrifice and service will never be forgotten. We continue to keep his family, friends, and the members of the Jamestown Police Department in our thoughts as we honor his memory and legacy.

We are proud to support events like today’s Move with MADD memorial walk and to stand united in remembrance of those we have lost to these preventable tragedies.

Thank you to everyone who donated, contributed, and helped support this important cause and continue spreading awareness about the devastating ripple effects of impaired driving. These are senseless and preventable tragedies, and together we can continue working to prevent them.

Gone, but never forgotten. 💙🖤
