Huge kudos to South Jordan City Fire Department for saving a family of ducks today! Their poor mom was so stressed out to see all of her little babies had fallen down a storm drain. These guys were awesome and worked until every last one of them was reunited!

Hello neighbors and friends!

Chad and Lisa Evenhuis will be hosting an open house TONIGHT at 7:00 with our current city council representative, Tamara Zander.

The address is:

4257 W 11430 S
South Jordan, UT 84009

Tamara will present for about 30 minutes and then will do a q&a session. Tamara is up for re-election this Fall so this will be a great opportunity for you to find out more about her and express to her your thoughts regarding the issues in our city that are important to you.

Tamara has done a great job representing our district on the council since my term expired seven years ago. I hope to see you there!

I want to personally and publically thank the members of the City Council for their votes on the Public Safety Building at the Truth in Taxation hearing. I personally agree with 4 out of the 5 votes but have no doubt that all 5 of them have the city's best interest at heart. I also want to specifically thank Tamara Zander my representative on the city council for her vote.

It takes courage to do what is right, especially when it is unpopular with a large group of people. That is why we have a Republic (Constitutional or Democratic Republic) form of government. If it were a pure democracy we might not ever have important decisions made. We continue to see politicians in Washington D.C. kick the can down the road on extremely important decisions, especially fiscal decisions. One example of this is Social Security. The system is bankrupt due to decades of politicians making bad decisions and not making the tough decisions to fix the system such as either cutting benefits or raising taxes. The reason for that is that the only solutions for fixing it would be extremely unpopular and would get many of them unelected so they continue to kick the can down the road. Meanwhile, the system that I've paid my whole life into will be broke by the time I'm of retirement age because of the politicians desire to be popular and get reelected.

Government is often reactive to issues and is behind the ball on keeping up with the needs of the people. I applaud the city council for drawing the line and refusing to kick the can down the road any further and tackling this issue now. Furthermore, I'm glad that they are doing the additionally fiscally responsible thing to do it right the first time by planning for the growth THAT WE KNOW IS COMING and building it sufficiently large, while also looking for ways to keep the costs down.

THANK YOU Mayor and Council for your service and for your votes on this issue and for adequately preparing for our public safety and future needs, even when it isn't popular with so many!

This is an important issue to be aware of for all of us in the Salt Lake valley.

This is an important issue to be aware of for all of us in the Salt Lake valley.

Amid widening evidence that Utah’s affordable housing crunch is worsening, business and community leaders met Thursday in Salt Lake City for the first of several “big tent” meetings to address the problem.

Thanks to everyone who came over to my house tonight to meet Rich Cunningham to ask questions and find out about his plans for South Jordan!

It is rare to have a candidate as informed and as experienced as he is and unafraid to answer the tough questions.

I just had to renew my text alerts for space station sightings. Since I've had several people ask how to get these, here's the link to sign up to get alerts for when you can view the space station in your area of the world:

See the International Space Station! As the third brightest object in the sky the space station is easy to see if you know when to look up.

South Jordan Fire Department are the best! They quickly responded to a call to save 3 baby ducks that fell into a storm drain across the street from us tonight. My son found the mom and siblings at a nearby park and the whole family is back together again!
