Thornton Township, the largest township in the State of Illinois, has approximately 185,000 residents. Thornton Township is made up of seventeen communities. The towns included in these boundaries fully are: Burnham, Calumet City, Dixmoor, Dolton, East Hazel Crest, Phoenix, South Holland, and Thornton. The towns that are partially located within the township boundaries are: Blue Island, Glenwood, Harvey, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Lansing, Markham, Posen, and Riverdale.

There’s still time to apply! The deadline for the Property Tax Refund Program has been extended to September 20.

Eligible homeowners can apply 100% online—no long lines and no paper application needed!

✅ Own residential property within Thornton Township
✅ Have a homeowner’s exemption
✅ 2024 property taxes must be paid in full

Required documentation includes:
• 2024 tax bill – second installment
• Property owner’s valid driver’s license or state ID
• Utility bill from within the last 6 months

September 6 Deadline Is Fast Approaching — Apply Today!

Homeowners across the Township are already taking advantage of this program, and there’s still time to join them. This is your money coming back to you, and all it takes is about 10 minutes.

The application window is open through Sunday, September 6, just under two weeks away. Apply this week and cross it off your list.

Grab these three things and you’re most of the way there:

•Your 2024 second-installment tax bill
•Your valid driver’s license or state ID
•A utility bill within the last 6 months

A clear phone photo of each works fine. Then the application practically fills itself out.

Eligibility check, all three must be true:

•You own residential property in Thornton Township
•You have a homeowner’s exemption
•Your 2024 property taxes are paid in full
