June 2026 utility bills are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026. If unpaid, service may be disconnected starting Monday, September 21, 2026.

💵 If you make a payment in the drop box after 5 p.m. Thursday, September, 17, 2026, be sure to include the $50 reconnection fee along with any past due and current amounts.

⚠️ PUBLIC SAFETY REMINDER: ATVs, GOLF CARTS & LOW-SPEED VEHICLES ⚠️

The South Hill Police Department has recently received complaints regarding ATVs, dirt bikes, and golf carts being operated on streets and public property within the Town of South Hill. We want to remind everyone of the laws regarding these vehicles.

ATVs & Dirt Bikes
Under Virginia law, ATVs are not permitted to be operated on public streets or other public property, except under limited circumstances provided by law.

Golf Carts
Regular golf carts are not considered Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs) and are not permitted on public streets within the Town of South Hill.

Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs)
The Town's ordinance allows properly equipped and registered LSVs with the following restrictions:
• They may only travel on roadways with a posted speed limit of 25 mph or less.
• They may cross a roadway posted at 35 mph but may not travel along it.
• They are prohibited on Mecklenburg Avenue, Atlantic Street, and Danville Street.
• They must be properly titled, registered, insured, and equipped as required by Virginia law.

These restrictions are in place for the safety of everyone using our roadways. Officers will be actively enforcing violations involving ATVs, dirt bikes, golf carts, and LSVs operating where they are not legally permitted.

Please help us keep South Hill's streets safe by knowing the law before you ride.

🌧️🎬 Movie Night Update 🎬🌧️

We hate to rain on the parade, but due to the weather forecast, tonight's movie has been postponed.

But there's still some good news! 🌟 Charr'd, Yetta's Soul Food, Beer Fed Beef, and Get Silly Lemonade will still be at Centennial Park this evening. So come out, grab a delicious dinner, treat yourself to something sweet, and support these fantastic local vendors. 🍔🍋🍦

We'll be working with the South Hill Revitalization Committee to reschedule the movie. Be sure to follow their page for updates on the new date.

Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and continued support. We may have to press "pause" tonight, but we'll be back soon for a movie night that's worth the wait! 💛🎥✨

The Town of South Hill, in coordination with the Roanoke River Service Authority (RRSA), is encouraging all water customers to voluntarily conserve water in response to ongoing drought conditions and declining water levels at Kerr Lake.

The RRSA has issued a Drought Warning under the Lake Country Water Supply Plan - Conservation & Drought Response Plan, which serves Mecklenburg County and Brunswick County (Town of Brodnax). Current lake levels have reached below 290.0 feet, prompting officials to request voluntary conservation measures throughout the region.

At this time, no mandatory water-use restrictions are in place for Town of South Hill customers. However, residents, businesses, and industries are strongly encouraged to reduce water consumption by 10 to 15 percent to help preserve available water supplies and lessen the need for future mandatory restrictions.

Examples of voluntary conservation measures include:
• Limiting outdoor watering and irrigation.
• Reducing vehicle washing and other non-essential outdoor water use.
• Repairing leaking faucets, toilets, and irrigation systems promptly.
• Running washing machines and dishwashers only with full loads.
• Taking shorter showers and avoiding unnecessary indoor water use.
• Postponing the filling or refilling of swimming pools.

RRSA will continue to closely monitor drought conditions and reservoir levels. Should Kerr Lake levels continue to decline and reach 288.0 feet, mandatory restrictions on non-essential water use will become necessary.

The Town of South Hill appreciates the cooperation of residents and businesses as the community works together to conserve water and protect this vital resource.

On the night of the meeting, agenda copies and sign-up sheets for Citizens to Address Council will be available on a podium by the front door to the Council Chambers (sign-up sheets will be collected around 6:50 p.m.).

For anyone wishing to share materials with Council, 12 copies must be provided to the Town Clerk by noon on the day of the meeting. These statements will be reviewed and approved by the Mayor before being distributed at the meeting. Submissions received after the deadline should still be submitted to the Clerk and, following the Mayor’s review and approval, will be forwarded to the Council at a later date.
