Thank you. I stand before you humbled and honored by your show of support in yesterday’s 2020 election for the office of Mayor of South Hill. On a day with soaking rains, blustery winds and a real chill in the air, it was so heartening to see that so many of you braved the weather to exercise your right to vote, or previously used the Absentee Voting option. I am so appreciative of the calls, texts, emails and chats where you shared your encouragement, and your agreement with my goals for the leadership of South Hill.

I am so grateful to those who publicly supported my Campaign, those who were featured in videos, and those who helped behind the scenes. I am extraordinarily proud of my team.

I am also very proud of all the candidates for Mayor and for Town Council. Each of us ran positive campaigns focusing on issues and goals. None of us —not one candidate—opted for negativity. That is something to be very, very proud of.

Again, thank you ALL so much for your support. Now let’s move forward and strive for transparency, fairness, respect and growth as we continue to keep South Hill Strong!

Good Morning, everyone! Happy Election Day! I could never say thank you enough to each of you for your continued support of me and this campaign. It is an honor and privilege to be your Mayor and I humbly ask for your vote today.

I look forward to seeing those of you who have not yet voted at the polls today. They will open at 6:00 am and close at 7:00 pm. I also wanted to express my sincere appreciation for each poll worker and those at the Mecklenburg County Registrar's Office who are working so hard to ensure we all have a safe place to come and exercise our right to vote.

I wanted to say a special thank you to each person who made an endorsement video for me to share on my page, along with each of my public endorsers (listed below), who were included in one of my ads in the South Hill Enterprise. Don't forget to come out today and RE-ELECT DEAN MARION FOR MAYOR OF SOUTH HILL!

In my candidate profile in the Mecklenburg Sun, I mentioned one of the projects I was most proud to be apart of was the Kids = Play project. Below is a testimonial from two of the co-founders of the project, Madilynne Tanner and Olivia Tanner:

“Dean was the first person we spoke to outside of our family and advisors about our project idea. It was refreshing to work with someone who was always so enthusiastic, professional, and encouraging. He always believed in our project and helped assist in every way he could. Working with Mayor Dean Marion to see our playground through to the ribbon cutting and official opening was an honor and a privilege. Dean believes in empowering young people and encouraging the next generation of citizens to make a difference in their community. He’s the kind of leader South Hill needs to grow.” - Madilynne Tanner & Olivia Tanner

I’m excited to share another endorsement video from Jean Bagley. THANK YOU, Jean, for this wonderful video!

Below is another part to my series of question & answers regarding my reelection:

Q: Why is transparency one of the most important points in your campaign?

A: Transparency & Growth: Do the best job you possibly can, with the best intentions, for the good of those whose taxes fund your endeavors. It seems to me that if you follow these basic principals, your actions and goals can and should be open to all who pay taxes and all who benefit. That’s our duty to the citizens who chose us to represent them... all of them. We can and should work together in the best interest of South Hill. Our only agenda should be for our town to continue our successful growth while maintaining our hometown pride. Recent events and challenges have shown what happens when our community bands together, sometimes in new and inventive ways. Town leaders should do the same, continuing growth in a transparent manner. Like I’ve said for months, we are SOUTH HILL STRONG.
