Would YOU like to join Bergen County's Domestic Violence Response Team?

The Domestic Vioence Response Team (DVRT) partners with Bergen County police departments to provide immediate support to survivors of domestic violence. DVRT volunteers offer emotional support, safety planning, information about DV, and connections to emergency housing, legal resources, counseling, and other community services. They can also assist survivors with the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) application process, helping survivors take informed steps toward safety and healing.

🚨Press Release: 5 Men Charged in Connection with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault🚨

With the profound assistance of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Passaic County Prosecutor's Office, Passaic Police Department, West Orange Police Department, Scranton PA Police Department, and Wilkes-Barre PA Police Department, 5 men (2 from NJ and 3 from PA) were arrested and charged last week in connection with a May 2026 armed robbery that occurred in South Hackensack.

One handgun with an extended magazine was recovered and is now safely off our streets.

In addition to the above agencies, the SHPD would also like to acknowledge Det. Kyle Skelley, the case detective, for his contributions to the investigation. 🫆

On August 15th, Officer Kurtis Reed proudly represented our agency at the 2026 NYC SEAL Swim, completing the challenging 3-mile open-water swim in New York City.

The NYC SEAL Swim is a demanding event that honors the courage, sacrifice, and service of the U.S. Navy SEAL community while challenging participants to demonstrate endurance, discipline, and mental toughness.

We are incredibly proud of Officer Reed for representing our agency and taking on this challenge. His dedication, determination, and commitment to honoring those who serve are a reflection of the values we strive to uphold every day.
